A lingering regret [Bonus chapter]

Rainard retreated a step and, with a sigh, turned to open the door. As he exited the room, he left Tove in a state of inner turmoil. Rainard had done so much for her, from the very moment they crossed paths. He had shielded her from Damien's anger, arranged her care at a nearby infirmary in the capital, and even welcomed her into his home, providing her with tasks and a sense of belonging.

"Sister Tove!" Zara's voice echoed, causing Tove to swiftly rise to her feet. "Is there something you need, Miss Zara?" Tove inquired.
