Chapter Twelve

Once Neil caught up to Roland, they found Clarence picking out a nice, formal tie for Roland. The two of them decided between two, and Roland got both. It wasn’t as if they would not be worn. Clarence rolled his eyes and made a quip that Neil hadn’t heard. Roland barked a rare laugh, and his response faded as Neil grew deeper in his thoughts.

I’m in love with Sally Foster. It wasn’t just a crush. A crush always disappeared. That was typically infatuation, something he rarely felt. What he felt for her was much deeper than that. He’d only know her for the last week, however, and they’d spent most of it arguing and dealing with the business at The Music Box, not to mention she also had to learn the ropes of the small grocery store Stew ran. Could he really feel this way about someone he’d only known for a week?

He didn’t see how it couldn’t be totally impossible. After all, his parents had been married two months after they’d married.
