' But you could have come to me earlier and maybe by now we would have found a solution. But any how, the first thing would be for me to go and see him and make my intentions known to him', he said emphatically.

'And what might those intentions be?' Mercy asked incredulous.

'That I want to marry you of course, and that he should give his consent', he said confidently.

'Aren't you listening? He does not wish for me to be with you in anyway except as a platonic friend because he wishes for me to marry a wealthy and influential man who be believes would take better care of me. You would only escalate matters if you go to him now. That's why I want us to come up with a foolpoof plan to get his approval'. She said.

'What foolproof plan would you suggest? Or are thinking what I am thinking?' he asked feigning seriousness.
