Chapter Ninety Eight

Mercy was angry at Mary's behaviour. Mary goes anywhere she wants and nobody questions her and she was the younger sister, yet Mary had the guts to talk to her as though she was her mother.

All that Mary had been doing against her was getting beyond endurance. Who did Mary think she was to talk to her this way? She wanted to give her a befitting comeback but she thought better of it. She was suspicious, that was fine by Mercy.

Let her perish in her unsatisfied curiosity.

'Did anyone come looking for me?' Mercy asked.

'No, but we were really worried about you'. Mary said.

'By 'we' you mean?' she asked.

'Mum and dad of course. They were surprised that you weren't back yet. I had to make up excuses'. Mary said.
