When we got to Lucian's house, they prepared food for us to share. We are all at the big pool today to celebrate with cousins and friends.
I don't call Lucian Big Brother anymore, as well as their other older cousins; that's why it's been brought up again.
"Why don't you call us Kuya anymore, Lucila?" Phoenix asked. Because they are still not used to me calling their first name. The first time I called them by their names, they were shocked and even ordered me to call them Kuya. I laugh at that, but I still don't follow them.
I know they don't want people to misinterpret that I am not respecting them.
"Nothing. It looks like we're the same age..." I said and shrugged my shoulders to give emphasis.
"But we are still older than you," Lucian pointed out. I looked away. I don't want them to see what I am hiding.
We are now sitting on the loungers near the pool. We could go swimming at their house, so we were all complete. Gracia was also with Nixon. I'm happy for both of them because they will be celebrating their 1st anniversary as a couple this year. Nixon was the first Griffin to have a girlfriend, and they were equally lucky with each other. Gracia is excellent and kind like Nixon, so I know they consider each other lucky.
"I don't feel like calling you Big Brother anymore." I just said. "Because I'm used to America not calling Kuya anymore." I still defend. I used to live abroad, so I know they will somehow understand my reason.
I'm thankful that our two-month vacation in America gives me an excuse now.
They shook their heads at the same time. "You're stubborn. We already told you that it's different there, it's different here, so you should still call us brother." Lucian also said mischievously. I don't want to agree that I should still call them Kuya. Even Caiden scolds me.
I heard the laughter of Luciana and Celeste on both sides of me. "Brother Lucian, let Lucila do what she wants," she said, defending me. She secretly winked at me. I laughed at Luciana.
Lucian shook his head at his little sister. "You tolerate it, baby Iana; that's why Lucila keeps on doing that," Lucian said.
Luciana snorted. I am glad I am not jealous every time he calls Luciana baby. I know that it means little sister. And I don't want him calling me baby because I don't want him to see me as his younger sibling.
"Let's go. It's swimming time." I just said it so that their attention wouldn't go to me.
While we were here, we had a chance to ask everyone how they were doing at school. Their other cousins are also busy at school. Some of them are going to college.
The days moved quickly over the next few days. We all studied well. The older Griffins helped us with our studies.
We finished our first year in college. We breathed a sigh of relief because finally, it was school break!
Our families have congratulated us since we survived the first year of college. And since it is also the moving up of Kai, Jaxon, and Gavin in Junior High School, and they were rewarded high honors, we prepared a victory party for them. We also celebrate because Celeste was Valedictorian when she graduated from Senior High. We are very proud of them.
I'm also very happy because Lucian and Caiden have already graduated from college and both got Latin honors, which is why there was a big celebration in the village of the Griffins.
I gave them gifts. I only gave the boys a present. I gave Celeste drawing materials and Lucian an expensive ballpoint pen.
"Happy graduation! Congratulations, Luci!" I greeted Lucian and hugged him. I am pleased and very proud of him. He smiled and hugged me too. "Thank you," he thanked warmly and pulled away from the hug.
"I have a gift for you," I said and handed my gift to him. His smile widened. "Wow! You shouldn't have bothered, but thank you," he said.
"Nah. I want to give this to you because I am proud of you," I smiled. Lucian has opened his present.
I saw how he smiled, knowing my gift for him. "Ballpen?" he asked amusedly, smiling.
I smiled at him. "I heard that you will be trained for your company. I think you can use that when signing an important document, right? Your name will be in demand, and your signatures will be important. I believe in that."
I want to give him something handy. I know that that pen will be helpful to him. I want him to remember me every time he sees that.
He laughed a little and stroked my hair. He looked at me sweetly. "How thoughtful. Thank you, Lucila. I am very much inspired now after hearing all those encouraging words. I really do appreciate it, babe."
I smiled. Because I really believe in Lucian's ability. I know one day he will be one of the people to look up to because of his skill.
My heart was happy since I knew Lucian appreciated what I gave him. He holds my hand and even playfully puts his name on it and has it signed.
My heart hammered at what he did. I don't know, but I felt he was marking me as his. I know I'm delusional, but this made me happy.
"Thank you for this, Lucila," he said sincerely.
"I'm glad you like it," I told him. I even chose it myself. I asked daddy what kind of pen is helpful to them since dad also uses a pen in his job.
Lucian smiled at me and even stroked my hair.
His friend called him, so he excused himself. I nodded at him. "Go ahead. I'll go find Caiden. I will give him my present too."
He nodded at what I said.
When Lucian started to walk away, I looked at his signature on my palm. I closed my fist and secretly put it in my heart. I want someday to have his last name put on my first name.
