A Coincidence? Or...

'That's dangerous...' Ian sighed with relief after he returned to his dorm.

Even though Osiris only showed him on the stage for a brief moment, Ian was nervous. He was afraid that he would be killed at any given moment after that event.

'Luckily, I was wearing a mask.'

Ian was certain ... that if he hadn't been wearing a mask, he would have become a cold corpse by now. Osiris's descendent...That's a straight path to the afterlife. He stopped thinking about it anymore and was more concerned about something else.

"Going to class, huh... That's unexpected." Ian mumbled, He has no memory of anything that transpired during his high school years. All he could recall was him not having enough time to rest because due to working at multiple part-time jobs to make ends meet.

He shook his head and started stuffing the books for today's class into a bag.

Students would have about an hour after the opening ceremony before being asked to enter their classrooms.

So Ian didn't rush into the classroom but instead considered what he should do to avoid being killed by some random spy.

He began to doubt whether his decision to attend this university was feasible...

"Anyway...I think it's time to go to the classroom," Ian said aloud, putting on a mask.

Time will tell whether his decision was right or wrong...

______

.

"Hmm... Is everyone here?" inquired a middle-aged woman as she examined the students.

Ian sat in an inconspicuous seat, but his mask drew attention. Unbothered about their stares and whispers, Ian looked back at them and examined them.

Since he was in the Privileged Sector, he had anticipated the lecture hall to be lavish and grand, but it was quite similar to the lecture halls in typical universities that he had seen online.

"I'm Medea Quade, your professor of runic language." The lecture was launched right away without her asking anyone to make an introduction about themselves.

"Runic language...or Rune for short is an ancient study that was discovered in the ruins left behind by the people of forgotten times. The first runes were discovered in a cave located in Greece by a Mind practitioner who was later known as the Pioneer of Runic studies."

Ian was initially uninterested in the class since most of the runes are inefficient...

They take a lot of time to master but their effects are inferior to the mind practitioner's abilities.

He would have learned them regardless of their disadvantages if their abilities were unique, but... the majority of them are just inferior copies of the mind practitioner's abilities.

Although he knew the origins of runes, he didn't know where and when Mind practitioners first discovered runes or their history in the central realm...so he paid close attention to the lecture.

"The runes are divided into 4 ranks... The first one among them and the one you will learn at this university are 'Fundamental Runes'. " Professor Medea stopped talking and closed her eyes.

A formless power that distorted everything around itself was released from her fingertips and slowly arranged into a strange symbol... in Ian's eyes, it didn't have a clear shape, but he knew it was an extremely detailed pattern.

The'Rune' then vanished into thin air, but...

[Can you hear me?] a voice rang in Ian's head that startled him.

The voice was projected directly into his mind rather than hearing through his ears.

[This is the 'Tel' rune, which has the ability to grant the user 'Thought Transference' or telepathy for a period of time proportional to the amount of mind power used]

Ian was taken aback for a moment before recalling some information about this rune. This can be considered a subpar version of an ability that can be learned at the Green stage.

The reason it was inferior was simple: not only was its range lower and its mind power consumption higher than the actual ability, but with the amount of time required to master this rune, an average mind practitioner can reach Green grade with the assistance of resources.

As a result, aside from a few freaks and people with no chance of advancement, most people would never learn the Runes.

Of course, the second-rank runes are somewhat useful, but they are considered secrets that will only be taught to members of their factions through special methods.

Professor Medea concluded the lecture by demonstrating some other runes after demonstrating the 'Tel' Rune.

"That was kind of useful..." Ian muttered while walking out of the lecture hall.

He had no desire to learn runes, but he enjoyed watching the demonstrations.

While walking towards the dorms, he started hearing whispers of some students, which made him stop in his tracks.

The Privileged Sector's Lecture Hall and the Gifted Sector's Lecture Hall had a common entrance, so when students from both sectors exited the lecture hall, they would inadvertently meet.

"Have you seen them? That well-known duo, Son of Fortune and the Cursed Child?"

Ian was taken aback when he heard this.

'Child of fortune and cursed child...Don't tell me they're the ones I'm thinking of .'

Because of the mask, Ian's shocked expression went unnoticed by the students around him.

"Yes, I noticed them, but why are they in the Gifted Sector? Isn't their background more than enough to get into the Privileged sector? Furthermore, I noticed them chatting with another individual. He looked pretty cool."

"Yeah, to me that third person looked like an ascetic that had shed all of his desires."

"Nah...not at all, rather than an ascetic, he looked like a merciless person, and he seems really dangerous. What was his name, by the way?"

'Aeric Xander' Ian thought in his mind...The protagonist of the novel he wrote and the most monstrous talent of all time.

"It's some Aeric Xander, It is rumored that he might be the best talent of this year. I don't know if that is true though"

Ian didn't care about the rest of their conversation and rushed back to his dorms.

"Aeric Xander...How is this possible? why is he in the same year as me!?" Ian muttered. He was terrified right now.

No matter how he looked at it, it didn't look like a coincidence.

'This...It seems like I need to change the plans' Ian recalled a ruin. with the help of Aeric, it would be really easy to get 'That' treasure... Moreover it can immediately increase his strength by many folds.

'Hmm...although being in the same year as Aeric is suspicious, it can benefit me'

After a while, Ian calmed down and returned to the next lecture. For the time being, he must come up with a strategy to persuade Aeric.
