Oath Of Od

"It's about time..." With his eyes glued to his watch, Ian muttered as he leaned against a wall next to the Lecture Hall's entrance in the Gifted Sector.

In contrast to his usual uniform, he was wearing clothing with a faint red tint and a small emblem with the word "2G" etched on it.

He also didn't wear his mask like usual.

The ringing of a bell echoed throughout the lecture halls, signaling the conclusion of the lecture after which droves of students left the building, all of them giving Ian strange looks, which he ignored.

After a while, when most of the students left the vicinity, a few people started to leave through the door.

Ian smirked as he looked at a specific individual among them.

Ian walked up to that person...He had well-defined facial features, dull golden hair, and honey-colored eyes, making him stand out from the rest of the crowd.

" Nice to meet you..." Ian said while waving at the Golden-haired individual.

The Golden-haired person looked at Ian, perplexed by the sudden greeting.

"Do I know you?..." He inquired and looked at Ian with suspicion.

'This uniform...2nd year? how did he get into the 1st-year district...'

Not minding the suspicious stares of the person in front of him, Ian continued.

"My name is Ian Froda... You don't know me but I do, I heard a lot about you...the renowned 'Son of fortune' - Asher Crowley " Ian stated nonchalantly.

"I see... What do you then need? You must have had a good reason for wanting to meet with me." Asher inquired. At first, he had some apprehensions about Ian, but all of those concerns disappeared when he realized that Ian was only at the Innate stage.

Ian nodded at asher.

"I do have a reason for meeting with you...Help me with something..."

Asher furrowed his brows when he heard this. "Help? what help? Specify".

"There are a lot of people here...let's go somewhere secluded."

They both walked for a while before asher glanced at ian.

"What do you need? tell me right now..." Asher inquired and a formless power got released from him.

'Hmm...no suspicious people within a hundred-meter radius ' Asher's brows relaxed after noticing that there were no fishy people in his surroundings.

Ian, who is oblivious to this nodded; and started speaking.

"Nothing...I discovered an ancient ruin that I want your help with...with you around finding treasures would become a lot easier."

Ian started scrutinizing asher after speaking...

' Hmm...Seems like this won't be enough...'

Just like he anticipated after a moment Asher started laughing.

"Haa...That was funny, you want my help because of my luck? Sorry, I think ill pass" Asher waved at ian and started walking away.

'As expected it was not enough to convince him...did he think of this as an assassination attempt? ' Ian pondered for a moment.

Indeed...It made sense to ian now, Asher must have thought of this as a ploy by outer realm factions to lure him out of the university...

"WAIT!" Ian yelled at Asher's fading silhouette. He then began running quickly to catch up. After a while, panting, Ian took a deep breath and turned to face Asher.

"We can sign an 'Oath Of Od' if you want to..."

Asher's nonchalant face suddenly became serious and he stared at ian with confusion.

"How do you know about it...are you from one of those Secrecy Families in the council?"...Asher was deeply conflicted at the moment.

'Should I accept it if it's an Oath Of Od?...let's wait until he shows the contract '

An "Oath Of Od" is a life-or-death contract; once someone signs it, if they even accidentally violate one of the clauses that have already been agreed upon by all parties, they will simply "die" or cease to exist.

"Alright give me the contract... I'll read it first."

Following asher's request, Ian pulled a scroll out of a pocket on the cloak and handed it to him.

Asher took the contract and started reading all clauses and terms.

' The Party A- Ian Froda can't hurt the Party B in any manner whether directly or indirectly... Anything Found by Party B only belongs to Party B and Party A doesn't have any right to get them...looks good '

Asher sighed. Somehow, at the crucial juncture of his breakthrough to Purple Grade, he managed to get a chance to visit an ancient ruin.

'My luck is as ridiculous as always...' Asher started patting himself on the shoulder.

"Alright I agree to the terms in the contract,...do you have any needles? nevermind I found one in my pocket." Asher took a dagger that was hidden under his wrist and made a slight cut on his index finger.

Crimson red blood soon started seeping out of the tiny wound, and Asher pressed the blood on the places where Party B's signature was required.

"Here take this" Asher passed the contract back to ian.

Ian just bite his finger with his canine teeth and rubbed the blood on the signature section.

The Contract glowed in white for a moment and then became normal.

"You can keep this... Be ready by 11 Am tomorrow. Bye," Ian threw the scroll towards Asher and started walking away.

"11 Am huh...Alright, see you tomorrow."Asher waved at Ian.

'I need to tell this to them...' Asher started walking towards the canteen.

______

Asher entered the canteen and looked around for a while before he discovered who he was looking for.

In addition to having more attractive facial features than Asher, he also had a vampire-like appearance thanks to his white hair, red eyes, and pale skin.

"Why did it take so long? Aeric returned to his room a long time ago." Asher was given a sharp look by the person with white hair."

"No, it's a lengthy story—read this instead! " Asher excitedly handed the scroll he was holding to the white-haired person.

"Contract...alright let me read, Wait... an 'Oath of Od'? why did you sign this type of contract? would anyone go this far for something?"

After reading it for a while, he frowned and pointed to a line that Asher had previously ignored while gazing at asher suspiciously.

"Here in this 12.3, Party B is required to bring 2 trustworthy people. So, who are you bringing along? ..."

Asher took the contract and carefully read each provision and term once more.

" oh... why, didn't I notice that earlier?..." Asher turned his head to look at the person with the white hair.

"Don't count on me...I have work to do tomorrow" He stood from his seat and was about to walk away.

Asher grabbed his hand. " Hey Rue...aren't we the best of friends? am I not your good buddy from childhood...Please come with me"

Rue stared at Asher with annoyance and "You are so unreliable...alright I'll come with you, as for another person...convince Aeric on your own, I can't handle talking with a Reticent like him."

"Haaa, thank goodness...I thought you would not come with me...anyway, Tigers started running in my stomach let's eat something.."

"Don't count on me; tomorrow I have work to do." He got up from his chair and turned to leave.

Asher took hold of his hand. "Aren't we the best of friends, Rue? Please accompany me."

Rue clicked his tongue in annoyance... "Alright, I'll come with you...You are so unreliable...okay. As for another person...convince Aeric on your own. I can't handle talking with a Reticent like him. "

"Alright, I will take care of Aeric by myself...Now let's eat! "

"... it worked?" Ian muttered with relief.

Ian, who changed back into his regular uniform, stepped cautiously with a flashlight in his hand... into a dark, cramped tunnel filled with a pungent smell.

This was done to keep people from seeing him changing his clothes... because if he were to catch the attention of a spy, he would undoubtedly end up on the Suspicion list or even the Assassination list.

He began to consider how he would speak with Aeric.

He went to Asher rather than Aeric mainly because, if he wanted to persuade Aeric directly, he could forget doing so before Descent of Realms.

So the best course of action would be to use that nearby aeric.

'Fortunately, that trio usually avoids interacting with others...'

It was simple for Ian because the three of them didn't have any other friends due to their introverted tendencies...

"Now I need to request a helicopter from Osiris..." Ian sighed and shook his head.

He asked Osiris for quite a few things today, no doubt...including that 'Oath Of Od'.
