Emotion Reading!

"What are you doing here?" Asher looked at Ian standing in front of his bungalow door and couldn't help but be confused.

Why is he back so soon? It's only been a few hours since he left!

Ian appeared embarrassed at Asher's question and answered awkwardly.

"Ugh... Aeric told me I could use his lab whenever I wanted... So,"

Before Ian could continue, Asher raised his hand and stopped him.

"Come in"

Ian noticed Asher's oddity, as well as the fact that he was covering most of his face with sunglasses, a mask, and a hat.

"Why are you covering your face?" Asked Ian as they walked towards the Bungalow.

Rue burst out laughing when he heard that.

After laughing for a moment, Rue controlled himself and said.

"Aeric poured some sort of chemical on his face... Pfft It turned into a red tomato, so he covered it up with all of those masks and sunglasses."

Ian didn't know how to console Asher, so he stopped thinking about it and asked no more questions.

If Ian asks something now, and that hurts Asher's feelings, he will lose not only a free Lab... but also his only connection to the protagonist- Aeric Xander.

Ian asked Rue while Asher unlocked the main door.

"Why are you two the only ones? Where is Aeric?"

Rue sighed as he shook his head.

" He didn't want to come to today's lecture...so he stayed in the Dorm."

'Didn't want to come out? Is he experimenting with something Or?..'

If there is one thing Aeric does not require, it is knowledge. Even if Aeric hides in some backward slums of the world, given enough time, he will reach the pinnacle of humanity... And the main reason for this is- Babel!

The library that holds all knowledge of the Central Realm!

If it hadn't been for the incident in which he was attacked by a traitor and got accidentally saved by Asher, Aeric might not have come to this university at all!

What he seeks at this university is not knowledge, but protection... Protection until he grew strong enough.

They all entered the Bungalow after unlocking the door.

Ian exchanged a few words with Asher before proceeding to the lab.

After opening the door, he discovered Aeric meditating.

Seeing this, Ian couldn't help but become curious.

'What grade has Aeric reached by now?' Thought Ian.

He couldn't keep his curiosity at bay, and his pupils gradually turned Ash gray.

But when Ian saw the color radiating from Aeric's body, he was taken aback.

'The f*ck! He's already at yellow?'

Aeric's progress astounded Ian.

Isn't it supposed to take Aeric longer to increase his Mind Cultivation since he's learning every godd*mn ability? Then, why is he already in Yellow?

Aeric seemed to notice something as he opened his eyes.

" Oh… It's you?" said Aeric, after which he continued his meditation, not paying any attention to Ian.

'What? can't you speak longer sentences? And is that how you greet another person!? You A**Hole! '

Ian flared up inside, But on the outside, his expression didn't change much, as he simply smiled at Aeric and went about his work.

He looked around the lab but couldn't find the ingredients needed to make the nameless potion.

"No need to make it, just look inside the third shelf," Aeric said.

'You are still paying attention?' Thought Ian and did what Aeric said.

He didn't realize what Aeric was saying until he opened the shelf.

There were dozens of vials inside, each filled with an indigo-colored liquid and tightly sealed with plastic caps.

It overjoyed Ian when he saw this.

He immediately opened the seal for one of them and drank it. The familiar sensation of being caught between drowsiness and awake assaulted his senses.

The world became black and white once more, but this time the line between black and white became blurred as some areas appeared grey.

He mentally browsed the inheritance and divided his attention into two parts.

Because of the mind power's enhancement on his mind, Ian can already do basic multitasking as long as the things he's doing aren't too complicated.

His True vision appeared to have received a temporary boost after drinking the potion, and he can now use the ability without fear of bleeding from his eyes... Until the potion losses effect.

He then carefully observed Aeric under the True Vision once more.

Aeric was still emitting yellow light from all over his body, and nothing appeared to have changed.

'His aura... As expected, Aeric is an emotionless b*stard,' Thought Ian.

The light emitted by a person under the True vision is due to the escaped Mind power from the body also known as - Aura

This Aura is a combination of the Mind Power, emotions, thoughts, and feelings.

A normal person's aura is like an ocean with periodic waves in it, and when a person is feeling a certain emotion, ripples form outside of these periodic waves.

The user can estimate how much the other party is feeling based on the intensity of the ripples and how frequently they appear in the intervals of waves.

After that, He only needs to observe the other person's aura to determine which emotion they are feeling.

This may have appeared complicated or simple depending on how one looks at it, but it is one of the simplest methods to train Emotion reading among all the other methods.

' They considered this the easiest ability? what kind of messed up analogy is that!? '

Ian wasn't sure if he was stupid or if every Mind practitioner was exceptionally intelligent, but this seemed too complicated to him.

'If this is considered as simple, then...'

Ian began to lose hope for the future, but he remained steady and continued to read the inheritance.

Because they are mixed with aura, emotions are the easiest to read. Compared to some Brain wave monitoring or other methods used by some groups of mind practitioners.

That means, as long as a person's mind power can't stop escaping their body, they can forget about hiding their emotions.

Of course, there are some unconventional ways to counter this ability.

Some people will go to great lengths to remain emotionless to avoid this ability. However, Ian thought about Aeric's situation and concluded.

Aeric does not need to do any of that! Unless his emotions reached extremes, it's difficult to detect them in his Aura... He is a natural at hiding his emotions.

Ian sighed and began walking downstairs, not knowing whether to be envious or glad in certain situations.

Ian noticed Asher without a mask on his face as he walked downstairs.

'This... Aeric went too far,' Ian thought as he shook his head and continued down the stairs.

As Rue stated, all the skin on his face has turned red, and there are numerous scratch marks on it.

"You're already down!" After noticing Ian, Asher asked, surprised.

He immediately put on his mask and covered his face.

Asher's thoughts were in turmoil.

It's only been ten minutes!

"Help me with something, just stand there and be as angry as you can." Said Ian.

His eyes are still grey and they even started to become pale white.

" Angry? " Asher asked, his face betraying his confusion.

Ian could have asked for any other emotion, but he chose anger because it is the most obvious and is simpler to experience than happiness or sadness.

"... Alright"

' Anger... Today's incident! I need to recall that itch and the burning pain on my face!'

Asher started to think about every time Aeric poured that Urushiol Extract or whatever on his face.

He couldn't help but be enraged, and he tried to fuel his rage by recalling other incidents.

" Excellent, keep it up."

Ian attempted to compare every detail of Asher's previous and current states.

The intensity of the Ripples is increasing at a remarkable rate as expected, and their appearance is becoming more frequent between the waves.

He concentrated even more and tried to separate the emotion from the aura. His eyes began to turn red, but he eventually noticed a hazy white light in between the aura.

'Is this... emotion?'

Ian felt as though he was personally going through that emotion and the confusion about how to read emotions got cleared from his mind.

'Anger, Sorrow, Joy... Wait, Joy?' Thought Ian, Bewildered.

When Ian felt that one emotion, the way he looked at Asher changed. He never expected Asher to be a masochist.

Asher seemed to notice a change in Ian's gaze and used his Emotion reading ability to read it.

'Disgust? '

Asher realized that Ian might have misunderstood something.

' I am just laughing at that drunk student a hundred meters away...'

It's quite amusing to look at that student sneaking in a wine bottle from outside and falling on the floor, breaking the bottle on the way.

Asher felt he had been wronged. But he didn't care to explain what he was doing to Ian.

Maybe that might cause even bigger misunderstandings.
