Chapter 37 It ain't me, it ain't me~
POV Justin
"I don't understand, you can send a group to take care of anything, for what reason do you have to go out of bounds?" Negan asks me with an annoyed look on his face.
"I'm just going to stop the signal coming from that place, I won't be in danger." I say crossing my arms and making a pout.
"Liar." Negan says gritting his teeth.
"You and Mike are staying here, I need you to keep things as stable as you can. I don't want to come back and find out that the city was invaded by walkers, was attacked by the CRM or some idiot tried to remove me from power." I say laughing under my breath.
"I'll have one of the saviors accompany you." Negan sighs, shaking his head. "Cheeky brat putting himself in danger." I listen to Negan whisper.
"I'll go prepare some contingencies before I leave, I'll be at the airport in 1 hour." I say with a smile on my face as I quickly walk out of the command room.
1 hour later.
After much effort, the airport is now operational. However, we only use it for helicopter storage and maintenance. The rest of the planes on the runway were stored as there are no other airports in operation as far as we know.
Usually, our helicopters don't stray too far from our security perimeter, but in this case, it will be a trip of a few hours, one of my reasons for traveling by helicopter and not by car is because of the travel time. In a vehicle, the trip would take around 12 hours, possibly more considering the blocked roads and all the dangers that lurk outside our security perimeter.
In summary, traveling by helicopter will be safer for me, and in this case, I will travel in Majesty 01 as I baptized it escorted by Majesty 02 and Majesty 03, they are practically an imitation of Marine one.
"Is everything ready?" I ask.
"The helicopters are supplied and ready to take off along with your escorts." Mike says. Given this, I just nod my head observing 3 helicopters positioned on the airport runway.
At that moment, Negan walks up to me with Arat. "She will go with you, if things get out of control she has the job of keeping you safe at any cost, otherwise…" Negan says with a completely serious look in her direction.
"I'll keep him safe." Arat says quickly as she swallows a lump in her throat.
"You act like something bad is going to happen, but you know what?" I smiled cheekily. "I'm hard to catch!" I exclaim with a crooked smile on my face.
"If things get weird in my absence, here's a list of instructions...remember, only in cases of emergency." I say seriously handing Negan a notebook with a series of protocols I established. Then I head in the direction of my helicopter.
Majesty 01 consists of 1 pilot, a couple of machine guns installed in each of its sliding doors, and some defense mechanisms, enough to keep me safe and comfortable during the journey. I decided that only 2 escorts will accompany me inside the Majesty 01 while the rest of my escorts will go in the other two helicopters.
Upon entering the helicopter my sight is focused on the other person who is part of my escorts and will travel with me. "The makeover looks good on you, Jadis." I say making fun of her. "You look more intimidating." I say sitting next to her to tease her while Arat sits on my other side.
Currently, Jadis has the uniform of a common soldier of the Empire, a tactical suit with the logo of the empire right in the heart.
She just nods her head in my direction. "How boring." I whisper crossing my arms.
"Pilot turn on the music!" I exclaim as the pilot presses some buttons and music starts playing at full volume as we start to take off and fly over the city.
"…It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no senator's son, son
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, no…"
"Seriously?" Arat asks raising an eyebrow in my direction with a smile on her face. At that, I simply shrugged with a crooked smile and began to sing along to the music to the discomfort of my companions.
The aerial view of the city is quite impressive and even more so when the entire city belongs to me.
So, we start to walk away from the safety of the city with the background music in the direction of the horizon.
What dangers will we face on this journey? So many things can happen, so many things can go wrong, and yet the smile on my face couldn't be bigger. What a thrill!

POV Jadis.
At first I thought it would be a good idea to volunteer on this quest and get some extra points to buy some stuff, I just have to babysit a dangerous kid and stop him from killing himself. This quest will also dispel any suspicions they have about me and possibly allow me to quickly advance through the ranks of the empire.
If I manage to hold an important position within this Empire, I can protect my people, give them a better lifestyle and prevent them from doing dangerous work.
So the further we got from the city, the more I regretted my decision to come.
"What is the real reason for the trip?" I ask with interest in my voice
"If I told you that I haven't exploded something in days and I'm getting bored, would you believe it?" Justin responds by tilting his head slightly as he watches me.
"What?" I ask with confusion on my face. Does this mean that we are here only on a whim of a child?
"What?" He replies with a shitty grin on his face, at which, I clench my fists tightly.
"How are your people adapting?" He asks me. "Well, now they are my people hehe. But you got the point." He says waving his hand dismissively.
"That was a threat?" I ask narrowing my eyes at him.
"Damn it, woman, stop being defensive!" he exclaims. "It wasn't a threat… you know what? I will talk to Arat from now on." He says crossing his arms and turning his back on me.
"…So I was once in a car chase on the streets of Atlanta and bravely fired from my vehicle at our pursuers. It was fun! And then…" He begins to babble in Arat's direction as she keeps a forced smile on her face.
It was a serious mistake to come here.
Shortly after, Justin seems to have become bored and stands up, sneaking up on the pilot. What the hell is going through his head right now?
"Hey, hey, can you teach me how to fly the helicopter?" Justin asks innocently touching the pilot's shoulder.
"Your Highness, I don't think it's…" The Pilot stutters.
"Come on~ just teach me some basic things, consider it an order." Justin hums. "You'll also get bonus points when we come back." He says with an innocent smile sitting in the co-pilot seat.
So Justin bribed the pilot to teach him some basics about flying a helicopter, well, that will keep him distracted.
1 hour later.
"I'm flying a helicopter, I'm doing it! Muahaha." Justin exclaims excitedly as he holds the helicopter steady as we fly over the walker-filled city of Charleston. "I am incredible!" He says with a smile on his face for the fifth time. He is very smug.
"Pretty impressive of you, but I think you should hand control over to the pilot, I don't want to crash into a building." Arat says laughing nervously. "It's one thing to fly over trees and another thing to fly over skyscrapers." She says.
"She's right, please hand over control to the pilot." I say sighing a little. I must admit that the child learns very quickly to control a helicopter with only 1 hour of practice.
"Never!" He exclaims as he continues to control the helicopter for a few more minutes until we're on a collision course with a skyscraper, then the pilot quickly takes control of the helicopter and manages to dodge the skyscraper.
"I… I could have dodged it." Justin says with a red face of embarrassment without looking anyone in the face.
Arat lets out a shaky breath as she keeps her fists clenched. "Damn it, damn it, Negan." She whispers.
"Can you even turn off that annoying song? I've listened to it 10 times in a row" I say with frustration.
"Nope." It's all he says cheekily turning in my direction and turning up the volume on the music.
"…It ain't me, it ain't me…"
"…I ain't no fortunate one, no…"
Arat just sighs as I continue to regret my choice to come.
