Chapter 9: Memory

  [Eli's POV]

The world around me ceased to exist as the all-too familiar room began to blossom into view.

Goddess, how many fucking times was I going to be shown this? Wasn't it enough that I had to witness it firsthand?

With my heart hammering, I looked around until I spotted her laying there. She looked so serene and like nothing was wrong, if only it weren't for the silver dagger sticking out of her chest.

Beneath her, the blood had already pooled, staining our wedding satins red. There weren't any signs of struggle, as if it had been an inside job. To this day, I still had my suspicions that it was my mother's doing.

Callie and I had been childhood sweethearts, but my mother never approved because Callie was the daughter of a low-ranking warrior.

Despite all that, we were truly destined. On the eve of the new moon, we discovered we were mates. And after that, no one could stop me from making her my Luna. At least, that was what I thought.
