CHAPTER Sixty- Two

  Ryland

I was sitting out back, getting some fresh air, it was warm in my mom’s house. The night had been going well. I didn’t have any issues with Jack. He seemed great, but my guard wasn’t entirely down. A part of me was worried in case it was still too good to be true for mom. I knew that had more to do with my trust issues rather than anything else with Jack. He seemed like a hard-working, caring guy, and I wanted that for her. I was paranoid, that was all.

“Hey, can I join you” I heard from behind me, I knew it was Jack.

“Yeah, sure,” I said, looking at him from over my shoulder.

He smiled and sat down next to me on the bench.

  “Are you OK, Ryland”

“I am fine, just needing some air, that is all,”

“You and Gracie seem great together and very much in love,” he smiled.

“Yes, we are. The girl changed my entire life. She saved me from becoming someone I didn’t want to be,” I said, “I don’t know what I would do without her,”
