  I wondered how many students would make it to his month mark. I just hoped I was in that selected group.

  “Let’s start with a basic question. How would you define human rights” he takes another look around, his eyes falling on me, “You, what is your name” he asked.

  All eyes fell on me, and I tried my best not to panic, “I am Ryland, sir,” I replied.

  “Okay, tell me what human rights are, Ryland”

  I knew this answer, but it didn’t stop me from being nervous, “Human rights are the rights of every person, no matter what one’s gender, race, sexuality, religion and so forth, is.” I answered as confidently as I could. Yes, there is more to it, but that was the basic description of it.

  “Yes, correct, and do you think equality is something in this world” he pushed.
