  I made sure to have a quick shower because I didn’t want to make Gracie wait too long, but most importantly, I needed to know what was happening with her; her recent actions had me worried all day. I pulled on a pair of joggers and a tee, rejoining her only fifteen minutes later. She was in the kitchen, preparing dinner for us. She didn’t realize I was there.

  I made my way over to her, slipping my arms around her waist and kissing over her shoulders. Gracie sighed softly, resting against me, “I would have gotten us dinner, my love.” She turned around to face me, stepping into me, burying her face in my chest, and wrapping her arms tightly around my torso. She didn’t say anything, still, I could sense she needed the hug.
