CHAPTER TEN

Muhammad's POV

Saturday the 17th of August.

"What exactly has been spreading around the blocks about me? That I haven't heard before? Nothing new" she said with a cold grin on her face I don't know why but I felt like she was disgusted by me, maybe she was there was only one way to find out and it is by asking her.

"You haven't even spent a year from home and this is what you are turning into, you heard some news about me your mother and the best thing you know to do was to come here to accuse me if I am guilty or not, you haven't even listened to me you haven't even listened to my point of view is that right" she added

There was a brief period of silence which I tried to break as I said "Well..." I paused as it seems like I no longer have the courage that I once taught I had to confront her. This is my mom here what if everyone else was wrong, what if it was just fake news spreading, I didn't even ask her about it I just presumed that whatever information I got from the firm was right, what if it wasn't?

"Go on, am listening," she said as she folded her arms as looked directly into my soul.

"Well it sounded true," I said as a rush of blood found its way to my heart as it began pounding as fast as it could and I could feel my pulse rising. Why was I scared? This was the same person I have known all my life, so why does it seems like am doing the right thing but at the same time it feels so wrong?

"I can see what little trust you have for me, and I don't blame you anyways the reason why I asked you to stay away from home, well the reason why I did that was that am having a busy weekend and I don't want you to come and meet my absence" she stated.

"Can I ask you a question then?" I said.

There was a brief period of silence in which I heard a loud bashing sound from upstairs, what exactly was that? Or who was that?

"I would be right back, just give me a minute," mom said as she walked upstairs towards the sound.

I looked up at the ceiling as I tried to gather my thoughts together, what exactly was I looking for? I felt disappointed in myself for not trusting my mom but I guess the blame wasn't fully mine she had a share too because she has been acting a bit suspicious these days even way before the Maryam girl was found.

The minute she asked for went by before I could finish collecting my thoughts but she wasn't back, and I could barely hear a sound in the house everywhere was dead silence and this was new. I decided to go and check it out for myself to see if truly the girl was here or if it was just a dirty rumour that was spreading around, but where could she be? Which room?

I began walking upstairs the house was a very big mansion, honestly, it was too big for it to be a home for only three humans two now because I no longer live there, I quietly stepped into my room as I locked the door behind me, why is my heart beating fast I want doing anything bad, this was my poor attempt to convince myself and for some reason it did work.

I began to go through the room and surprisingly it was the exact way I left it, except for the fact that the room was in better shape now, I scanned the room but to my amazement, there was nothing here, not that I was expecting anything to be here I just taught the room would be in a different condition.

I decided to take back home some of my suits and went to my dresser, everything looked fine and so I decided to pick the best one there, my navy suit still looks good as new, after removing it from the dresser I realized that there was a container there I reached my hands for it as I grabbed it, it was written boldly on it chlordiazepoxide (Librium), I didn't know what it meant so I quickly took a picture and returned it to where it belonged as I walked out of the room.

I looked towards the other half of the house and it looked detached from the rest of the house like no one has been there for weeks now. I walked back downstairs as I tried my best thing my business.

I went back to where I was seated initially and sat there as I drooped my suit beside me, I waited for a while and it seems like mom wasn't coming back soon where was she? I looked up to find her coming from the secluded half of the building.

"So where were we?" She asked as she came down with an envelope.

"Well..." I hadn't even begun speaking before she interrupted.

"Well like I said am very busy, take this get yourself figured out okay, now let's go I'll see you off to your car," she said as she handed the envelope to me.

We strolled to the driveway and before I realized it we were already at my car.

"Wait I forgot something," I said as I remembered my suit, as I left it on the sofa.

"Okay, what did you forget?" She asked.

"My suit on the sofa," I said as I began to walk back towards the main building.

Oh! I let out a sigh of relief as I saw Divine coming with the clothes, she was such a handy person and that was why I was so fond of her when I was around.

"Take care," she said as she let out a smile as I began to walk back to my car.
