Going Along with The Plan

"George, you'd better be careful if you know what's good for you. Mr. Davidson isn't someone that you want to offend." Although it wasn't a warning, Alice laughed coldly and she had a complacent look on her face.

Originally, she had felt a bit guilty about facing George. So she didn't say much, but when she heard Ben mention his family, she gained some confidence. George had only won a little bit of money, but Ben's money wasn't won. And his net worth would be over a billion when he came into his inheritance.

George remained calm as he said, "Are you sure that I can't afford to offend him?"

Ben's father was one of the most famous entrepreneurs in Harrison. Although George hadn't known he was an investor in Harrison U as well.

A while ago, Mary and her other roommates had heard that Alice was being pursued by a rich boy and that she had dumped George. They asked a few questions, but Alice refused to tell them the truth.

"So that's the reason", thought Mary. "She hid it quite well." She gave Alice a long look and immediately made up her mind on the situation. She stepped forward and pulled George over to her. "George, stop fighting. My cousin will be here soon. I don't want to mess this up, please."

"Ben, you've gone too far. You deserve to be taught a lesson." George said ignoring her.

"George, I know Ben isn't a good person," Mary said anxiously, "But my cousin will be here any minute and I don't want to screw it up. Please, please don't make a big deal out of this. Okay?"

Privately, Mary thought that George couldn't beat Ben and she was afraid of getting hurt herself.

George frowned and took a deep breath. "Okay. Let's just forget about it." He pointed a finger at Ben, "Now get the hell out of here or else I'll hit you."

Ben scoffed. "Why don't you do it now? Are you scared?"

"That's what you think." George scouted him. "I've seen lowly people before, but I've never seen anyone as low as you. It would be beneath me to hit you." George still clenched his fist as he mocked Ben.

"Ah, you little bastard. Just you wait," Ben threatened. "I'll make you kneel down and beg for mercy." Despite his words, Ben hurried to the door when he saw George raise his fist again.

Alice didn't know why he was so scared. She started after him calling out anxiously. "Ben, wait for me." Then she stopped and turned back to George. "Don't be too proud of yourself. His father won't let you off so easily. Just you wait and see."

With that, she left as well. She was embarrassed and knew she couldn't do anything more to harm George herself. So threatening him on someone else's behalf was all that was left to her.

"Thank you, George." Mary said carefully.

"Yes." He replied absently. "No bother."

Her expression relaxed slightly, but she felt a little awkward after the confrontation.

"Right. What do you want to drink?" She asked to break the tension. "I'll treat you."

"Just a glass of orange juice, please." He replied without any hesitation.

She ordered his drink, but looked at him with disdain. "How could he not offer to pay himself? He's actually happy to spend my money."

She shook the thoughts from her head and then remembered about her cousin.

"George, my cousin will be here any minute now. Remember, you have to pretend to be her boyfriend. If anyone asks don't let anything slip." She cautioned him.

George nodded his head to show that he understood. "But when did I agree to all this?" He thought. "This girl is like a steam train, just barrelling ahead, regardless. Oh, well, since I'm already here, I might as well go along with it."
