Awakening

So Not Fair!

But the stupid system chooses to ignore me as always. And I care not.

I mean, I do care... The type of care that wants to beat up the system.

But again, if I don't act fast, Galahead is going to chop my head off.

He is bearing down on me and there's only one thing I can do.

I need to summon the Dragon... But how the heck do I actually do that? The dragon in question began to have a hard time as it creaked and groaned, fatigue continuously spewing out fiery justice beginning to wear on it.

Already there are some cuts on its arms and torso, revealing red welts of meat flesh beneath the black scaled hide.

That's when it clicks in my head- A dragon without intelligence is still a beast at large and can be outsmarted.

"Look at Mee..." Galahead roars, obviously annoyed that I have not given him my attention.

I didn't even flinch or move an inch. But Shouldn't his attack have reached me already?

However, I see David rising from the ground again after it appears he had been bashed aside, as Galahead prepares to lunge at me once more, raising his sword for the kill.

Ha! As if I'm that easy to kill!

Galahead pauses, his eyes narrow and his pupils look sideways to his right, where David rushes with a jab of his sword.

"What's Sir David jab gonna do? Galahead's armor is as good as flawless, attacking it from the open seems rather pointless." I said thoughtfully.

Galahead reacts faster, he swings his blade to parry, the heavier weapon throwing momentum against David who swerves with his blade.

"All of you are nothing! Hear Me... Nothing!" Galahead screams as he advances toward me, the weak commentator.

" God! I totally hate my body" I murmured as I was still crouching on my fours, watching in panicky hurried breaths.

"Haaaah!" David yells, running with a jab of both hands with his broken sword.

And I still don't get it. Why jab with a broken sword?

Galahead saw it and snorted, kicking his right leg up to kick the arms of David into the air.

David yelps, throws a backflip and lunges with his body with a spear. It's stupid because David is no match but yet he's trying over and over.

However, it is not much as Galahead's longer arm fists up, and slams into his back before he can connect the spear.

That's when I see it... David's frame bends in reaction but his hand scrapes against the ground and up comes a spear that follows.

I can't really call it a spear, javelin maybe? But it does the job as David aims it to Galahead's exposed armpit, the place where the armor does not cover.

Damn…

David was never planning to harm him with all the previous moves. He was only feinting all along, just to get close to Galahead, close enough to deal a critical hit.

Galahead panics as the red eye pentagram flashes but from his panic, I doubt the pentagram can protect him seeing that his armpits are not covered.

Quickly, Galahead leaped up and went backward, away from the Javelin, as barely escaped the fatal damage.

"Stay behind me. I will be your knight in shining armor, my lady." David called my attention, pulling himself from the ground with three limbs towards me.

But I am uncertain. How can he, when I am but a man myself stuck into the body of a lady in the midst of an alternate medieval earth!!

I could definitely hold my own. Plus, David does not look like he can hold any further. The only thing keeping him in is his will to protect me.

Hmm... Is that what Knightage really stands for? To always stand up, over and over, just to protect the ones important to you?

"I've had enough of your insolence, Knight." Galahead threatens but his frame trembles for a while before he quickly rights himself.

Is Galahead getting tired?

"Ugghjk... I'll keep you safe, M'lady." David grunts, as his hand weakly extends as if to block any passage that was bound to cause harm, while the other picks a sword from a fallen Silver Knight.

"Haaarghh!" Sir Galahead grunts and in one flash, he pops up before David in a blink, startling him.

Clang!

David reacts quickly, arcing his blade from right to left only to be stopped by Galahead's parry and a follow-up stomp kick to the chest.

"N-No... D-Da...David.." I groan, weakly spreading a weak hand to him as if in an attempt to reach for him.

David staggers, mumbling something I can't hear as blood spurts from his mouth in an arc, swaying backward behind me before he crashes to a heap, his sword clanging down to my side as Galahead aims for my head with an up-to-down s***h.

And for some reason, I'm pissed.

"Hhah!" Galahead grunts as I struggle to my feet, weakly standing up.

As soon as my eyes settle on his frame, I duck in a flight or fight response as his weapon swipes clean above me, pieces of my chopped hair falling about my face.

Quickly, I step back. But before I did, I grabbed David's Sword because I was tired of running around. It's time to confront my fears.

"Galaheadddd... Enough with you." I rumbled, grabbing my sword. Deep within me, I was dying in fear. I haven't wielded a sword since I was born, but here I am, holding one that could keep me alive or make me lose my life… I was freaking scared, but a part of me was yearning to be respected, honored, and not looked down on by this merciless rogue knight.

And I swear he's going down!

"I am not going to get into the game just to die in my first scene. Why? Because I am a gamer at heart and nothing stops me, never…"

"Dragoon..." I summoned the beast with authority, rushing forward with a sword in a jab.

"Don't look at me that way. David jabs did work, so it's not wrong to try it!  I yelled slowly as I advanced toward him.

Galahead was surprised and startled by my sudden charge as he leaped backward, escaping my thrust.

To be honest, I was not planning to thrust with that sword. I Only wanted to create an opening, like David did, to exploit.

"Where's that Dragon of a thing? I sighed in frustration at my unsuccessful attempt, clenching my first.

Galahead crouched, his eyes narrowed as he observed from the other end, leaning his hands on the hilt of the sword embedded into the fallen body of knights.

Merciless.

"Even in their death, you still desecrate their bodies, Galahead?" I said but desperately want to shut up.

Seriously, I need to just stay quiet and figure out this whole thing… I should be thinking of escaping, not challenging him.

Or... C...can this be the effect of the body tempering Strength'? Does it improve boldness?

Just then, I feel a raspy creakiness reach out to my mind like an anxious child will tug at a parent's hand.

Except for this time, the child seems like something ancient, yet ignorant.

Curiously, I reach out with my mind to it, latching a hold on it with firmness. And as I do, a sort of link forms, between me and…

{Rooooaaarrrr...}

{Shut Up!} I order back in anger and sense it's the dragon roaring in my mind as I see it swinging a tail to slash away the knights as it tries to lunge towards me.

"That's it, this is what I have been waiting for" I picked up my sword and lunged toward him again.

I turn away from it and rush, without giving him time to analyze my move. I jab at him but he Didn't jump backward as I expected.

CLANG!

Rather he lets my sword hit him, igniting a little spark as my sword meets his armor and he chuckles.

"This is all you got?" He mocked.

But I am not done yet. I shift my weight forward and push with all my might. The impetus hurls my sword like a hammer to a nail, pounding sharply against Galahead's chest plate, sending him staggering back.

He gasps, looking at me as surprises are all over his face as he tries to right himself.

And that's my opening there!

I smirked, circling the sword that struck him, which was actively draining blood towards the rubies as it sucked it up. Quickly, I reach my target from the left, making a bold swing to his neck which is exposed.

But Galahead's gauntlet arm blocks it.

Still, I was pressing on.

I reach again, making a quick 360 swirl as my blade crashes against his gauntlet arm again when I try to hack at the knee joint of his armor.

I frown, and he also frowns looking towards his sword while trying to hide the shock off his face.

"Come on, Now... Think like a gamer.." I told myself who was buried in thought.

Galahead takes a step to his sword quickly, but unfortunately, my gamer knowledge was updated.

I lunge towards his arm that reached for the sword with a slash. He pulls back only for my sword to halt halfway, a faint in all totality, coming back swinging into the inner bend of his armor.

And as I do, I feel some sort of resistance in the air, slowing me down.

[Ding!]

No now, you punk!

[System has recognized System Skill: Phantom Slash]

I exert more pressure, feeling a rushing gut of energy into my arm as my blade reaches into the curve of Galahead's arm.

Hopefully, there's some flesh to cut into.

[Phantom Slash: User is able to feint attack, manipulating the original accrued kinetic energy of the failed attack to deal double critical damage.]

Seriously, get out of my face, System!

"NRGHH!" Galahead grunts as my sword lodges deep into his arm, splattering crimson blood into the air.

Wait, it's that strong?

I didn't expect the cut to be so deep into his arm, certainly.

Now, I understand That surge of energy I felt earlier was not from the body's tempering strength.

No, it's the benefit of the skill Phantom slash.

Ah... Wow!

Even Galahead is wowed as he stares at me with horror on his face. "W-what are you, Samantha?" He asks in fear as I pull my blade off, drawing more blood out.

As I did, I didn't fail to notice the brightness of the red eye in the star pentagram glowing like a lamp in the dark armor.

Before I can process anything, Galahead Yanks his unharmed hand, and the sword rips itself out of the mass of flesh and steel, zooming into his hands.

"Never Mind... Your death is all that matters." Galahead yells, his cocky confidence coming back as he grips the bloodthirsty blade in his extended arm.

"Dragon Now!" I yell and the wind swirls from Galahead's left as a shadow drifts, circling before zooming to us.

Galahead saw it, the blood-dyed body of the black dragon, crunching some dark knights into dismemberment in his giant jaws, readying his blade for an upward swing.

He's aiming to chop the neck of the dragon once it comes close..

Exactly what I'm counting on!

I lunge.

"Box X, R2..." I mumble some game pad permutations as I duck, seeing Galahead trying to keep an eye on me as the dragon comes within meters.

Quickly, I strike my blade in my right arm in an upward slash for his neck and he rips his blade to parry.

Fool! It's a Phantom slash!

I halt the arc and swing around, slashing widely with reinforced strength into the same hand but the red eye suddenly flashes and a red shield like stuff appears protecting the attack.

Galahead grits, bringing his sword for me but he frowns, as my dragon has the sword and his arm covered in its mouth, its canines ripping through the metal easily, severing the hand and blade cleanly.

"AHHHHH HHHHHH..." He screamed, falling to his knees as he gripped his handless shoulder on the left, attracting the attention of the knights at the battle.

So, that's it, right?

The Red Eye Pentagram got wary of me after that initial attack. And thus was unable to protect Galahead from multiple front attacks, as it was focused on foiling my slashes, totally ignoring my dragon that was coming.

I kick him down, a leg to his chest, raising my blade up as the dragon roars as smoke bebelchesnto the air. I heard a scramble and saw the silvered knights chase after the dark knights as they turned to their heels and fled.

But that's what I saw last as my eyes closed, falling back into something behind me.

David…?
