Curiosity Kills The Cat

I flip my eyes open to the soft fixings of the roof of the bed above me. Stuff like white pieces of soft clothing... No, blankets criss-cross each other, forming a sort of roof carpet.

I heave, noting how weak my body feels.

It's the kind of weakness you get when you just wake up feeling refreshed but you still don't have the guts to rise up.

Without moving my head, I roll my eyes down to see more details of where I am, noting the soft silk gown that is over my breasts.

Honestly, I don't think I'll ever get

accustomed to having breasts- Like ever!

Okay, back to the topic. I raise my head Abit to stare down. As I do, more imagery floods my eyes, a wall of white, almost transparent walls of linen forming a rectangular barrier around the large bed I am on.

Suffice to say that this is a King Sized Bed…

No, that doesn't fit well. I am a lady... So

Queen-sized bed.

Ah God… That is n...not right!

I am a guy at heart so this is King... You

know what, never mind!

Phew!

On top of the bed are the pinkish bedspread and Cozzy milky white blanket which wraps me from the waist down or appears so because I pushed it down.

There are pillows almost as big as my head too, to my waists that I partially lie on, forming a ridge of sorts that blends well with my back.

What I mean by blend we!! is... I don't even feel it! any ache, despite the pillows reaching my waist side because it just sort of works!! with me.

Mehn... I could get used to this. But... Wasn't I in a battle before?

"WAAA…HHH.." I yelp as I jolt up

immediately, my face cloaked with horror.

Did Galahead capture me?

"Uh? Oh No No No.." I mutter, pangs of fear seeping through my body as I begin breathing rapidly, as my eyes focus on the sole entrance into the linen walled bed at my feet.

It is like two curtains parted…

THUD…

Wait..!

THUD... THUD...!!

"Eh? Footsteps?" I whispered to myself,

reaching my left set of fingers to the air before me.

THUD... THUD... THUD...!!!

Those are definitely footsteps, yes, they got to be. And I am not wrong as the silhouette of a female bulky form begins to rapidly gain on me from the right.

Turning my head in the direction, I can see the double arch wooden doors that swing slowly to shut on themselves. But before the doors close, I see the form of another person walking off.

And this one seems masculine even though He has some sort of gown on.

"My lady..." A gentle voice arrests my attention and I return my gaze to the entrance of the bed.

In front of me is a middle-aged woman with a wide smile, her left hand holding the middle of her right hand, just below the elbow.

"Good day to you, My Lady. I'm glad you've awoken." She says with a smile.

She is blond... Like blondish white hair is on her puffed face with folds at the edge of her eyes, a very pointy nose- which I am not used to because where I am from, we do not have pointy noses --, a round oblong face.

She has this apron on which is amber checked. Behind the apron is a faded deep blue gown that I can't te!! if it's short or not because she stands at the edge of the bed.

Wait… Awoken?

Right, she said I have awoken? I am sure I

her body.

Yeah, I am that detailed, Deal with it!

"Yes, Samantha." She says, bending her frame to sit on the edge of the bed, sideways in a way that she has her right shoulder turned partially to me.

"You saved us. You saved us!! All of us.

Samantha, you're our hero, the true Lady of

Titledom." She beams with a smile, as one of my hands reaches to touch my clad feet.

And believe me, I am not comfortable with

that!

"And who are you?"

The woman seems taken aback but she

quickly composes herself with her smile

once more.

"Ah, My lady must have forgotten me. l am

Claire, Mrs. Claire or Madame Claire as you like to call me. And l am your Chamberlain or in more specific terms, I am your nurse."

Nurse, I understand, but Chamberlain?

"What's that? Chamberlain, what does it

mean?" I ask with furrowed eyebrows,

confusion oozing about me.

"Ah...My lady must be having one of her

regular Amnesia bouts." She happily exclaimed.

Wait... Regular?

Since when did Amnesia become regular

for you, Samantha?

"A chamberlain is the person in charge of a room in the castle. The job is to clean the room and take care of it and to see that the occupants have a cozy experience in it." Claire purses her lips, exhaling;

"Samantha, you actually do not know what the term Chamberlain means?"

"Yes.

Wait, who am I kidding? I am Sam, not

Samantha: So why the heck do I feel! like I have to answer when she asked a stupid question.

I mean, if I did know the meaning of Chamber!an n, would I bother her with it?

Seriously?

"It's okay, My Lady." She taps gently at my

feet.

I roll my eyes…

"Aaahhhhhhhhhhhh! Ah!" I groan, holding

my face in my hands.

"My Lady, you shouldn't make a sudden

movement with any part of your body,

especially your eyes," Claire says, holding my shoulders as she rocks me gently.

Yeah, serve me right!

But wait... I Never roll my eyes. So why did I do that?

Oh Ho!

Don't tell!! me, Samantha's characteristics are beginning to blend into me now?

If so, am I going to start fingering myself?

Come on, don't think that, Sam. Ahem...

Samantha!

But don't blame me. All of this is strange to me. Those stunts I pulled, in the first scene...Those were because I have tons of experience playing adventure, kingdom-type RPG games.

Not because I enjoy myself. To be very honest, I'm scared... What if I

don't return back home, you know to my

family?

No... I Shouldn't have thought of that!

Soon, I will wake up and be back and all of

this will be history, right, Sam, right? I tried to reassure myself... l am not even sure.

Welp!

Claire pulls away just in time as I raise my head and pu!! my legs together.

"How does your body seem? If You're having recurring headaches, say, I will prepare the medicines for you, are you?"

She asked with care and worries all over her eyes as her hands rested on my shoulders once more.

But still, I push her hands away softly, my mind sti!! worrying about the last event that happened.

"What happened to Ga!ahead? And the Dark Knights?"

Claire smiles, noticing my hidden agitation.

"My Lady, you discomfited him. By his defeat, the entire Dark Knights turned in fear and fled because of the fear of you. I'll tell you, your brave acts were just enough to rejuvenate the weary knights of Tit!edom, and what followed next was an ensuing sorrow of the slow-to-run Dark Knights. However, you stumped after the whole victory."

Oh, that is actually good.

I passed the Objective scene. The system ought to notify me so, where's my Ding…

Ah... No no…

My previous ding ding experiences have not been nice so far. There are always these splitting headaches accompanying, so zip it, system.

Do you hear me? Zip It!

DINNNNNNNNGGG…

My eardrums vibrate at the sheer intensity of the ache that racks my frame, causing me to jerk forward, falling into the hands of an alarmed Claire.

My Head, Damn! O

One day, I swear, I will find the system and

kick its a*s. Because I don't want to believe that It is not the person behind this system.

I mean, Why is it so painful?

It's almost as if it's bullying me. And to top

it all, the usual blue screen interface that

appears is not here.

See? That System got to have a person

behind it and I swear…

Zip it Sam…

The system can still hear you!

"You are definitely not alright, Lady Samantha," Claire whispered into my ear.

Now, there's a soft matching of steps towards us and so I lift myself up, jamming eyes with a man, middle-aged I think.

"Claire... How long have I been asleep?" I ask, my eyes never leaving the man before me who I lightly knew.

"My lady!" He softly greets. "It is about two days..."

The Mister has a shoulder strap leather brown bag, from his left shoulder to the right hip, a little black sheath of knife or dagger as the case may be by the left hip. His face looks Roman kind of. - I mean, I watched Spartacus so I know how this look looks like Gladius exactly fits in in this era.

"And what is your duty?"

"I see to the day-to-day activities of the Castle, bearing the Lord's purse and reporting directly to the Lord of the Castle but I'm this case, I will!! be reporting to you." He says with a nod and an amused face.

"To me eh!"

"Only for the time being." He quickly cuts

Wait... What?

"George..." Claire hastily chides, her eyes frowning at the Steward.

George wants to talk but is silenced by a  finger Claire raised. "No!" She mouths.

"Don't say that!

"

"Wait… Don't say what…?"
