Leveling up

'I may have some regrets later on, but now it is my best choice!' After making this decision Alexander focused on himself again and offered his accumulated soul force for leveling up process! About two seconds later, he finally felt that something changed inside him!

A familiar fiery feeling spread throughout his body, but this time, instead of moving through his meridians, it moved through every single tissue of his body. Flesh, skin, organs, every bit of his body felt as if it was on fire.

Suddenly, he felt something else. This feeling was different from the first one. He focused on it, and immediately, a familiar sight appeared before his eyes. The same boundless ocean he saw before laid once again in front of him. A little distance over the surface of the water, a small, barely perceptible cloud appeared. Alexander felt a little bit overwhelmed since everything has happened in a span of a second.

He prepared to withdraw his consciousness from this weird place, but he felt the fiery feeling once again. At the same time, the weird feeling returned as well, and the cloud that appeared over the water grew a lot denser, but at the same time, smaller. The next second, once again, the feelings returned, and the cloud condensed into a small sphere. It was perfectly smooth, without any single defect on its surface.

[Level 5 Reached!]

[Stat Recalculation Complete.]

[It is possible to learn skills now.]

Alexander exhaled slowly and opened his eyes. He jumped up to his feet and was pleasantly surprised that his body felt even lighter than before. He quickly concentrated on his mind's eye and familiar information appeared in his mind.

[Accumulated Soul Energy: 121]

'All my stats rose... and judging by how it feels, not by a small amount.' Alexander smiled happily as he examined his new stats. 'But wait... why does the free growth point line say twenty-eight? Shouldn't it be ten?'

Suddenly, Alexander noticed an unfamiliar new line all the way down the list.

[Passive skills]

He concentrated on it and the list recombined itself quickly into a new one.

[Blood Qi Activation Technique Lv.2]

[Unidentified Lv.?]

'Blood Qi Activation Technique. I guess it is the technique that allowed me to enter the Body Tempering Realm.'

He looked at the skill description.

[The Blood Qi Activation Technique allows the user to activate and amplify their blood qi. The result is an overall strengthening of the body and cleansing of the meridians. Allows one to cultivate to the peak of the Body Tempering Realm.]

'Just as I thought. Now, let's get back to those growth points.'

In a split second, the list recombined itself back to its original form.

'Twenty-eight points, hmm. If I got this correctly, then I leveled up thrice and all my stats went up by 0.3. Now let's see the increase after I spend one point. Let's add it to my Agility.'

The moment he decided it, the number that represented his agility blurred a bit for a split second and then went back to clear.

[Agility: 2.41]

'So each growth point adds 0.1 to the stat. Ten points and any stat increases one-fold.'

He looked at the remaining free growth points he had. The counter said twenty-seven.

'I can bring up any stat two-fold and then some... What should I increase?' He quickly fell into thought.

During his last fight, it was actually his father's meditation technique that saved him, not his strength or speed directly.

'Hmm, prolonged fights like the last one will be extremely dangerous. So I should put some points into my vitality.'

Alexander focused on his Vitality stat and in a blink of an eye, it showed a new number.

[Vitality: 4.04]

His free growth points counter fell to twenty-one.

'Having a bit more stamina always is helpful... Now let's see.'

A few moments later, he was almost finished with distributing his growth points.

Now he was trying to decide what did he want to invest his final five points in.

'Magic? But I don't have any spells. Plus I don't even know how to use it. Soul Power? It is my highest stat, but I know nothing about it. Others are at least self-explanatory.'

'Maybe being able to do more damage would be best.' He was about to add his remaining points into strength, but at the last moment, changed his mind and put them to his agility.

'Speed! The more speed behind the object, the more kinetic energy it possesses!' With a satisfied expression, he withdrew his consciousness and looked around. Weirdly enough, the auras that he felt moving did not move while he was busy and only resumed moving now, as if they waited for Alexander to finish up.

"Weird..." Alexander flexed his strengthened body and with a confident grin rushed towards the calling.

As he approached, the sounds of fighting grew louder. He looked around and realized that he was approaching the Royal University of Applied Sciences. It was a university his school was attached to. He picked up his pace and rushed forward. Now that he was almost two times faster than before, he reached the university in a matter of minutes.

A scene of a complete hellscape appeared in front of his eyes. It wasn't anything other than a battlefield! Many different creatures had besieged the university campus. Those creatures either chased down the students or tried to devour each other. Terrifying screams and pleas for help resounded everywhere.

While most of the assailants were demonized people, there were also mutated animals and even some ants the size of a dog rampaging through the campus. However, there were also some pockets of resistance!

Alexander looked at the chaotic battle in front of him. No one noticed him yet and he still could run away. Logically, it would be the best option, since what he could do alone against that number of monsters? However, something inside him stirred. He felt that if he ran away now he would never be able to forgive himself for being cowardly.
