Laying on the cold patch of snow against a pine tree, Ellia brought up her system interference.

Curiously looking at the unassigned stats, Ellia spoke. "What do I do with these?"

But thinking about it, Ellia started to get the idea. If this was designed like a game, then she was sure it was going to work like a game. However, Ellia hadn't played a lot of games if her previous life, but she did have a general concept of it.

----

Fifteen unassigned stat points had been used!

Mental capacity: 2 --> 17

----

Ellia had dumped all her stat points into mental capacity as it was the lowest stat. She didn't like the idea of one stat category being the lowest.

As she was exploring the rest of the system interference, she paused as she got rid of the interference in front of her. Then slowly standing up, she patted the snow off her bottom.

Ellia had noticed the man a while back but didn't say anything till now.

"Do you have a good reason why you came here, Alex?" Ellia spoke as she got up and looked behind the pine tree she was standing against.

Behind that tree was Alex. Standing tall in the imperial winter assault uniform.

"What the fuck are you doing here?" Ellia asked as she frowned. "Did you not heed my warning? Didn't I say I'll chop off your arms and shove it up to your sorry ass if you came here?"

Hearing her harsh words, Alex raised his hands. "Woah… you never said that, and why are you acting like this now? How did you change so much?"

"People change, you know."

"Yes, but not to this extent," Alex added. "You went from cute to a menace!"

Ellia didn't say anything and shrugged her shoulders.

"Look, I'm here because I'm worried about you, okay?"

"I don't need to be worried about. If you're here, I would be concerned about you, not the other way around." Ellia spoke as she crossed her arms. "And so what? What are you going to do? Just worry?"

"I'm going to protect you," Alex said with a confident smile.

"Protect? Protect? You can't protect shit." Ellia straightforwardly spoke. "I would be the one protecting you. So here's what I want you to do. Pack your stuff and leave."

Alex stared at Ellia and sighed. "No can do. Even if I wanted to leave, I couldn't."

"Oh my god fuck me sideways." Ellia groaned as she smacked her face.

"Language…!" Alex spoke with disappointment.

'Did this fucker say language?' Ellia thought as she peeked through the gaps in her hand.

"Well, so? How are you going to protect me? Do you have any particular training done?" Ellia asked, a bit hopeful.

"No…" Alex softly replied with a shake of his head.

Hearing his words, Ellia felt her surroundings go dark as she slowly lost reasoning. Her final string of patience snapped.

Without saying anything, Ellia turned around and started to walk away.

'What the hell is wrong with this generation?! Do these brats think war's a fucking joke?!' Ellia scram internally.

"Wait…!" Alex stopped Ellia by the wrist.

Ellia moved her face towards Alex with gritted teeth. "The hell do you wa- mfth!"

Maybe it was because of her unstable mentality at the moment, but Ellia didn't have time to notice Alex grabbing her chin, and by the time she realized, she was already sharing her lips with Alex.

Instantly bitting down, Ellia forced Alex to let go while he groaned in pain. Ellia then turned around and frantically wiped her tongue with her hands.

"Pugh! Ough! Pefffttt!" Ellia coughed and flung her spit towards the snowy ground, almost puking in the process. "You really want to die, huh?!"

Ellia then faced Alex, who was still clenching his tongue in pain. "What made you think kissing me like that would be a good idea?"

"I just want you to return to your normal self… Eli." Alex mumbled.

"I'm sorry, as much as I want her to come back, I don't think she will."

"Then I'll stay until the normal you comes back," Alex spoke as he seriously looked at Ellia.

Ellia gave Alex a look of disbelief before turning around. "At this point, just do whatever you want, but if for whatever reason you decide to fucking kiss me as you did now, just expect to see hell."

Alex nodded his head after a brief moment.

"Come here..." Ellia spoke as she walked towards and out of the forest.

Alex obediently rushed toward Ellia and walked beside her.

"So here's the deal," Ellia said as she glanced at Alex. "Since you're weak, you'll be training with me from now on."

"Huh?" Alex asked in confusion. "Like training beside you or..."

"I'll be the one training you," Ellia said. "So you better be prepared for it. If you can't handle it, then leave. I don't need someone who can't even train to be a better soldier."

Alex then again nodded. "Alight..." He still wasn't used to Ellia's sudden change in personality but was forced to accept it for now.

"Alright, by the way, what squad are you in?" Ellia asked. "And as what rank?"

"Well, the only reason I got in without taking the entrance exam was because of my father. But, even so, I had to convince him to do so. And for my rank, I'm a private... although my father has significant wealth, he isn't an Imperial nobleman."

Ellia turned to Alex and gave him a smile hearing his words. "Well, it'll build charter if you start as a private."

Ellia herself was a Private in the past, and it was difficult to even for her, but if you can get through it, you'll be fine.

"And as for my squad, I've been put with you," Alex added, causing a glare from Ellia.

"You..." She wanted to curse Alex but couldn't.

"S-second lieutenant!" A shout came from behind, causing Ellia to flinch as she turned around."

"Private Hayes..."

"W-who's this?" Aerie asked as she glanced toward Alex.

"I am her boy-"

"A friend." Ellia interpreted as she placed a finger on Alex's mouth, "He's a friend."

"What do you think you're doing?" Ellia moved to Alex's ear and whispered through her gritted teeth.

Hearing her, Alex moved his eyes away from Ellia's glare.

"Waaaa… how lucky," Aerie mumbled in envy as she looked two the two in admiration.

'Did she just get the wrong idea?' Ellia thought with an uneasy smile.

"It's not like that, Aerie. We're not in any deep relationship right now." Ellia calmly explained with a reassuring smile. "We're just friends."

'Oof…' Alex seemed to be the most hurt by Ellia's words.

"H-huh?" Aerie frantically shook her head. "It's not that I was just fascinated at the fact that you met your friend here."

"I-I see… haha." Ellia chucked with a slight hint of awkwardness on her face.

Ellia had almost forgotten that Aerie was orphaned. 'She must have never really had a real friend, huh.' Ellia thought as she glanced at the tinge of envy in her facial expressions.

"Huh? Who's this." Another voice came from behind Aerie.

It was Issac and the rest of squad 32 behind him.

"Did you not tell them about this?" Ellia whispered to Alex.

Alex shook his head with displeasure. "I didn't have time to meet everyone else. The moment I arrived, they forced me to come here."

"I see…" Ellia replied with a sigh as she walked toward Issac. "He's a new member in squad 32."

Issac curdled his eyebrows. "New member? I didn't receive a notice."

"It was probably on short notice. They didn't have time to contact us." Ellia guessed.

"Well, that's fine, but you're going to sleep on the floor, alright?" Issac chuckled as he patted Alex's shoulder.

Right then, a thundering shout came toward the group. "Alright, people, line up!" James yelled as he slowly approached.

Squad 32 immediately spaced out and lined up shoulder-width apart. The only people that seemed to be struggling to coordinate with the others was Aerie and Alex.

Aerie, on the one hand, was crushed by the sudden pressure and panic caused by James, and Alex the other hand, was probably not used to getting yelled at.

"I'm instructor James! And I will be training you from now on whether you like it or not!"

"Yes, instructor!" Everyone yelled.

"Now, since we don't have a lot of time, we'll be immediately entering training."
