Josiah’s P.O.V
“There’s a man at the estate claiming custody of the house!”
These claims weren’t uncommon to me. After my father died, I had a slew of ‘distant relatives’ doing their hand to take the estate from me. I knew full well that if I didn’t return to the estate, Cora would believe every lie this stranger would throw at her and give up the house in an instant. I doubt my heart will be able to recover from that.
Not wanting to waste another second—and feeling my temper running exceptionally thin, I got onto the horse, pulling Eva up onto the horse behind me. I rode off towards the estate, a fire burning in my chest that was fueled by anger and impatience. As I rode off, I remembered what Madame Morana had said about focusing on defeating Malik before worrying about the estate.
