LINSEY'S POV

What?

Amelia looked me straight in the eye.

-I must...have misheard...hahaha...- I said in an almost inaudible voice.

It was not possible. It couldn't be.

-What?

A male voice was heard near the door.

My body reacted to the voice, almost immediately.

It was a voice... An angry one

Daniel approached me with a firm step. His footsteps were loud and firm. I looked to Amelia for help, but the alpha aura was present. Not even she could not feel intimidated by such a presence.

I lowered my gaze to my palms. I felt him stand on the side of the bed. I felt his gaze on me, and I could hear his rapid breathing. He was angry.

I was going to die. This time I was sure. I was going to die. If I was lucky he would reject me and beat me almost to death.

No werewolf would want a mate pregnant by another. I was finished.

I glanced sideways as he raised his hand.

Is this how I'm going to die? Beaten to death by my own mate? Haven't I suffered enough?

I was mistreated. I was rejected. I was raped.

And now I would die at the hands of my second mate, for getting pregnant.

At least... If I died... I could see my parents.

Maybe they'll be glad to see me.

Maybe they won't reject me.

I closed my eyes, waiting for the first blow.

A few seconds passed.

I opened my eyes still looking at my palms.

Was he expecting me to be caught off guard?

I looked up. The hand he had seen raised was on his face.

He was crying?

-Amelia... Please leave the room.- he said in a firm voice, even as tears fell from his eyes.

Amelia bowed and walked to the door with Grey.

Before leaving, she gave me one last look and smiled a little sadly.

She went out and closed the door behind her.

As soon as the door closed, Daniel fell to his knees next to my bed.

DANIEL'S POV

WHAT?

"She's... pregnant?" Zarich asked.

- I must...have misheard....hahaha- my mate said in an inaudible voice.

My heart broke.

And my anger flared.

SOMEONE HAD TOUCHED HER.

SOMEONE HURT HER.

I walked up to her. Even Zarich couldn't control himself and the alpha aura shot up. I saw how my mate looked at Amelia, but she was scared.

I walked steady, even with my blood boiling. I would kill with my own hands the one who dared to harm her.

I stood next to her. She just looked at her hands, I saw how her shoulders trembled.

By reflex, I tried to stroke her hair, my anger was calming seeing her so terrified.

When I raised my hand to put it on her head, she tensed.

And a few seconds later, she relaxed. And she closed her eyes. As if she...she was waiting for a blow...or death.

I felt a pain in my chest.

She thought I would hit her.

She thought that I would beat her up and kill her for being pregnant.

I put my hand on my face, I couldn't hold back the tears.

I had scared her, she was scared of me.

She was afraid, She thought I would harm her.

I couldn't stop the pain or the tears.

- Amelia... Get out of the room, please.- I said trying to contain my tears without any success.

As soon as I heard the door close, I fell to my knees.

She was afraid of me.

-She fears us.- Zarich pronounced with pain.

I had never felt so much pain, I felt as if my heart was being crushed, as if it were being hit.

I looked at my mate with tears in my eyes.

-Please...- I tried to say. I don't want her to leave me, I've been looking for her, all this time I've been waiting for her. -do not leave me please...-

My chest ached, my head felt like it was going to explode.

I could feel Zarich's pain.

There was no worse feeling than the rejection of your mate.

-You...- I looked up when I heard her voice. -You...you're not...you're not going to hu-hurt me?- She stuttered while her hands still trembled.

I took her hands reflexively, and she was surprised.

-Of course not...- I said crying.- I would never hurt you; I would kill myself before hurting you.- I said as I put my forehead on the back of her hands.

POV LINSEY

I could feel his tears on the back of my hand.

Also how his hands trembled.

He was still scared.

He was an alpha and I... a mistake... I wasn't from an alpha family, I didn't have a bloodline.

-You are going to..- "reject me?" I was afraid to say those words.

What if he decides I'm not good enough? What if he decides it would be best to turn me down?

He was a pure alpha, of proven lineage.

I worked up the courage to ask. If he was going to reject me , he'd better do it now.

-You're going...-he looked at me once more. He had beautiful eyes, glassy with tears, green with hints of yellow. They looked at me, in a strange and unknown way, but still feel familiar with that feeling. - Are you going to reject me? - I finally asked.

He seemed surprised and scared at my question.

-REJECT YOU?- He jumped up with a frightened look. -Do you want me to reject you?- He asked me with more tears in his eyes.

I reflexively shook my head and lowered my gaze once more.

-phew...- I heard how he sighed. -I thought you would ask me to reject you,- he said as he sat once more on the ground.

He took my hands once more. I was startled for a moment by the unexpected contact.

-I'm sorry!-I listened as he apologized and let go of my hands. I looked up and no longer saw a terrifying and threatening man but only a cute puppy.

I smiled involuntarily. It was too adorable a scene to not do it.

His eyes lit up like stars on a clear night.

"You smiled!" He said as he took my hands and caressed them gently.

I was surprised by the unexpected action, but I no longer felt so afraid.

The way he touched me, holding my hands, made my heart calm in seconds.

It was like magic.

I felt safe, even if I don't know anything about him.

It was... A wonderful feeling.
