CH47: LEVEL UP.

"Jamal, where are you? We've managed to escape. Where are you?"

"Right behind you." Jamal, who by chance saw Dezhong and Krista jumping from roof-to-roof, followed the two and together ran further away from Crestwood. While Krista and Dezhong ran at full speed without having to rest, Jamal was starting to slow down, so he took occasional breaks.

"Slow down… guys… please." He pleaded with his hands on his sides. "I can't run as fast as you two. These crystals don't boost me with enough energy."

"Oh!! Sorry, Jamal." Dezhong apologized, having canceled his claw charge skill a while ago. "Mission accomplished. We managed to do the job, and none of us were spotted, thank God."

"That's good for… us." Jamal responded. "We don't have to worry about them hunting us now. If they're going to attack, it'll be Kong that they go for."

"It's still not safe for us to stick around here." Krista spoke while staring at Dezhong with a death stare. She still kept looking at his shredded sleeves and questioned why the boy's arms didn't break from the punch. "Remember, these gangsters roam these parts of town so they'll have more of their goons here in no time. Let's hurry up and return home."

"Here comes a bus. Just our luck." With their mission complete, the three teens breathed a sigh of relief and took the bus ride back home. As they were being driven back, they witnessed a large number of gangsters barging into different buildings in hopes of smoking the three teens out.

Some of the people they forced out were beaten brutally while most watched as their properties were destroyed before their very own eyes.

'Just our luck. If we stayed any longer, we'd have been caught.' Dezhong thought to himself. However, as he was looking through the window, he noticed how Krista was starring at him relentlessly without even blinking. 'Oh god!! She's not going to stop starring until I break. What do I do? If I act guilty, she'll definitely know something's up…."

"You two seem tense!!" Jamal loudly blurted while wrapping his arms around Dezhong and Krista's necks. "Relax you two. There's no need to feel so tense. As your leader, I order you to relax and—"

"Who said you're our leader, Jamal?" With that question asked, Jamal and Krista went back to their argument until the bus arrived a few kilometres away from South Eastern Desper. Once they got off the bus, the three teens were to go their separate ways while Jamal would return to Kong so he'd give him a full report on how the mission went down.

"This is it, Dezhong and Krista." He spoke before leaving. "Our first successful mission as members of Kong's inner circle. Let's strive to do our best in the future for the Gorillas. I know after this event, there are going to be lots of numerous attacks so I expect both of you to train and sharpen your fighting skills. Have a goodnight and be vigilant."

Jamal bid the two farewells as he proceeded to the South Eastern side of Desper, leaving Dezhong and Krista alone. Without saying a word, Dezhong quickly turned away from Krista and began his journey back to his home. However, the girl followed too with her eyes still glued to his arms.

'Crap!! She's still looking at these. What does this girl want?'

"If you're wondering about these," Dezhong waved his arms while cooking up a little lie, "I got them after the gangster used his blade knuckles on me. The sleeves protected my skin from his blades before I hit him back."

'Did she buy it?' he wondered while looking back at Krista, who quickly leaned over and held his arms in hers.

The boy's heart started to beat as his cheeks turned slightly red. Meanwhile, Krista kept turning Dezhong's arms over and over again until she was convinced that the blade knuckles were what shredded his sleeves. "Well, seeing this means you're right, right?" she chimed with a smile on her face. "I'm glad you're safe and not hurt. I was starting to worry that you'd get hurt, ahahaha." Krista laughed as she gently ran her fingers against Dezhong's cheeks. As she did so, she increased her pressure on the side of his face he was kicked on and failed to feel any bruises or swellings. "You have yourself a good night, D. See you tomorrow."

With that out of the way, Dezhong relaxed a little as he made his way through Desper's streets. It was approximately 10:30 PM, and the streets were partially active as a few store clerks and restaurants closed while the clubs and pubs opened. Partygoers and ordinary citizens laughed and smiled with each other as they ate, drank, and enjoyed their lives. 'By this time around next week, these places won't be up so late. After what we've pulled off, this side of Desper won't be the same ever again.'

[Reminder: You still have to complete one more quest if you wish to obtain all your rewards. Failure to do so will result in you losing rewards.]

'If it's walking in the dark, I know the perfect place. It's not like I have anything else to do.' Dezhong quickly ran towards the forest since he wished to finish his last quest. He ran, jumped, somersaulted, and slid past buildings, people, cars, and other objects until he finally got to the edge of Eastern Desper that led to the forest's entrance. However...

*POLICE TAPE: DANGER!! DO NOT CROSS. DANGER!!*

The blue-colored tape stretched for as far as Dezhong's eyes could see, and along the line were small police booths where officers remained to keep watch just in case anyone dared to cross. Luckily for Dezhong, there were no booths close to him, so he jumped over the lines and proceeded into the forest. The further he went into the forest, the thicker the tree sizes were, and the more tightly spaced they became. This meant that no light was coming in, not even from the moon. It was completely dark.

'How do I accomplish this?' he wondered as he tried looking around. At first, there was close to no improvement since he wasn't able to see. This went on for thirty more minutes until he finally remembered something his system told him concerning his arms. 'For my arms to change, I focused energy into them, which made them change. If I do the same to my eyes, maybe the same effect might kick in.' With his eyes wide open, Dezhong controlled the tingling energy from his arms and transferred some of it to his eyes. Gradually, his eyelids opened wider as they allowed more light to enter, thus allowing him to see in the dark clearly. 'I did it.' he said with his eyes glowing blue color, similar to the one his system had. 'All I needed to do was focus my energy.'

[Wrong!! Being a new werewolf, your human cells have been infused with werewolf cells altogether. These cells are what enable you to transform parts of your body. However, since you haven't awakened yet, your cells remain dormant in most parts of your body and need stimulation in order for them to activate.]

With his quests complete, Dezhong snuck out of the forest and returned home. After taking a shower and having a light snack, he went to his room and dozed off. It had been one heck of a week, and he still had four more days to go plus school to prepare for. So he needed all the energy he could get.

*Sniff* *Sniff*

"Oh!! I'm glad you came, wannabe dragon." Elvis got up from his nap with a splitting headache while the same monstrous images flashed in his mind.

"It's not like I had a choice." Jin replied with sweat dripping down his back. "If I tried to escape, you can sniff my scent and hunt me down, correct."

Elvis sat up and smiled while his eyes glowed. The images still raged out in his mind, but he instead chose to focus on the person who was pretending to be a real dragon. "There's so much to my power that you don't know about. Well to be fair, even I don't know about it yet. Memory loss, am I right?" He said while knocking on his head twice.

"Oh!! You don't know your own strength?" Jin wondered while the corners of his lips creased upwards. "Perhaps we can…help each other."
