A Date With Death

Vi had no clue what to do; his plan had failed horribly! He didn't even find his way into the estate.

"Well, it's too late to go back now; better salvage the situation as well as I can. First, I need to change back to my scythe; I dislike daggers."

Vi traded his daggers for his scythe through his inventory. This made the guard who declared his death nervous.

"Come on, let's go!"

Vi ran towards the guards and swung his scythe at his throat in a smooth motion.

Ting!

Although he was fast, the guard was able to block his attack with his sword easily, "Is that all you have? I can't believe that I, even for a second, thought that you may have been a threat."

Vi ignored his useless banter and continued to attack him with his scythe. He lifted his scythe and turned it around before attacking the guard's other side.

Ting!

"Well, it seems as though this will be over soon."

Vi didn't understand what the guard meant until he looked behind him. Four more guards were running towards him with swords in their hands.

"You think you can look away in battle? Foolish!"

Shlsh!

"AHHHHHHH!"

The guard's sword had punctured Vi's stomach, making him yell out in pain and spit out blood.

The guard let go of his sword, causing Vi to fall over. The guard yelled out at the guards running over to them, "Sorry guys, this fight is already over! You can go back to your posts!"

"AHHHHHHHH, UGHHH!!"

The pained yell made the guard confused until he looked behind him and found out what Vi was doing. He was pulling the sword out of his stomach while slowly getting back up to his feet.

"YOU BASTARD! THIS ISN'T OVER UNTIL MY HEAD IS OFF MY BODY!"

"What the hel-"

The guard's speech was cut off short by a scythe going through his neck in one clean swing.

"AHHHHHHH!!!"

Vi gave out a loud war cry before looking at the other guards with a nasty glare.

"Men, there are four of us and one of him, CHARGE!"

The four men ran at Vi and with the loud commotion he just made, almost every other guard were also running toward him.

"You want me to die? You'll have to try harder than just putting a hole in my stomach! On the other hand, though, I can't beat you all just yet...see you all later!"

Despite having an itch for a fight, he decided against it. He wasn't going to make it very long with a hole in his stomach, and he had had one goal in mind: kill Gelmart!

He climbed the fence and jumped over it. Despite there being guards inside of the fence as well, he was able to jump over. He then ran towards the mansion with a group of guards chasing after him.

He ran towards the door and kicked it in before entering the house, making the group of guards chasing him stop dead in their tracks.

"Do we follow him? Gelmart told us to never enter his house..."

"Of course, we enter idiot! Gelmart will be even more mad if we just stay out here...on the other hand, though, we could just stay out here. The village guard will be here soon, and I don't want to lose my life over Gelmart."

The guy originally defending Gelmart eventually decided against chasing Vi inside of the mansion, and everyone else agreed by walking away.

Inside the mansion though Vi was pondering how to defeat all those guards when he saw them walking away out of nowhere.

'Weird...well I guess I should go and kill Gelmart. Actually, I should free the kids first. What if Gelmart has more up his sleeve, and he kills kids while fighting me...'

With that decided, he looked around to find the stairs to the basement. He looked around the whole place without finding anything.

'Where are the stairs...wait. I'm so stupid! Why would he publicly say he has a basement when he has kids trapped down there? There must be a trapdoor somewhere...most likely, it's inside of his room, which is probably upstairs.'

He slowly went up the stairs while trying to walk as quietly as possible so as not to get discovered. While going upstairs, he constantly looked over his shoulder, paranoid that Gelmart had already found him out.

He got up the stairs without any interruptions and began to look around for the correct room. He opened a lot of different rooms and didn't find the right one until looking at the final one.

When he opened it up, he knew it was the right one. There was fancy furniture decorating the room with a massive bed in the middle of the room as well, and for some reason, Gelmart still wasn't there. He looked around until he heard a grown.

"Ughhh!"

He automatically assumed the worst and gripped his scythe before swinging it behind him, but all he cut was air.

He was confused. Where did the groan come from? He looked around until his eyes settled on the bathroom door.

'What's with my luck? Bathrooms have been my best friend today, and by the looks of it, he is going to be stuck in there for a while.'

Vi chuckled and continued his search for the trap door, ignoring the groans coming from the bathroom.

After looking around for a bit, he found a trap door under the Persian rug. There wasn't anything fancy about it. He simply just opened it up before climbing down the ladder.

As he climbed down the ladder, the light left his retina, and it slowly got darker. Although it got darker, there were still some lanterns lighting up the room. What he saw when his eyes got used to the darkness immediately broke his happy mood.

He saw a bunch of little girls in cages, with tattered clothes that barely covered their bodies. They were mumbling some strange things, obviously broken.

"That bastard! he'll be lucky if I give him a quick death."

"Hello! I'm here to get you out!"

When he yelled this out to the girls, he immediately got heads turning towards him.

"Now...where is the key?"

He was about to start looking around when one of the girls in the cage pointed toward a wall. When Vi looked in the direction she was pointing, he saw a key hanging on the wall.

"Thank you."

Vi walked up to the wall and grabbed the key before opening up all the cages.

"Well, I haven't thought this out very well. How am I supposed to get you guys out?"

He was about to think about what to do for a while when he heard a quiet voice call out to him.

"...Uhm..th-there i-is a s-se-secret e-exit ov-over th-there."

A girl with short brown hair pointed to a wall, and Vi could connect the dots himself.

"What is your name?"

Vi asked the little girl for her name while smiling at her, and she barely responded, "H-Hannah."

"Well, Hannah, thank you. You are a big help. "

Vi thanked Hannah, smiled at her, and began patting her head. Hannah smiled back at him; the smile felt like a smooth blanket fell over him and reinsured that he was doing the right thing. He even felt like the smile was the only reward he needed.

Vi walked over to the wall before pressing against every brick, and eventually, one went into the wall. When it went inside the wall, more bricks began to fall over, revealing a tunnel.

"Alright, Hannah, I'm going to need you to be brave and lead everyone else through this tunnel. I need to punish that evil man; he doesn't deserve to breathe."

"I-I will! Pl-please be c-care-careful mis-mister."

"I will thank you."

Vi watched as they began to walk through the tunnel, and his face dropped back down to a frown, "It's time to serve some well-deserved justice."

He went back to the ladder and climbed up it quickly before opening the trapdoor only to hear the familiar grunting.

Vi went up to the door and kicked it open, "Why hello Gelmart, today is your date with death."

"Wait wha-"

Vi didn't let him finish his sentence and sliced his belly open, letting his organs hang out.

"This is the least I can do for what you did to them!"

He didn't mean to yell, but it just came out. After getting his anger out, he turned around with Gelmart yelling out in pain on the floor of the bathroom.

"I guess it's time to go-"

BOOM!

As he was about to finish his sentence, he was interrupted by a person smashing into the house from the roof.

As the roof exploded, a cloud of dust washed over the room, making it impossible to see. While Vi was trying to blow the dust away from him, a voice called out to him, "Well, it looks like I came a bit too late. No matter, I'll still serve justice and kill whoever hurt you Gelmart."

The voice felt familiar to Vi and as the cloud of dust slowly settled, his guess was confirmed.

It was the village guard!
