Killing the Rich

"...Magic item?"

"Yes, you heard me right! I'll give you a mystical magic item! Only for my stuff and a favor! You really should feel lucky, the great Terric is offering you something as great as a magical item!"

Vi was shocked at his change in attitude, 'Does this man think he has the upper hand just because he has something I want? Well...he's not wrong...'

"Alright, you got yourself a deal, what is the magic item though?"

The man stared at Vi like he was an idiot, "You chosen ones really are stupid huh? That's not how magic items work...you can't just know what they do. You can only know what a magic item does when it wants you to. Most magic items have individual thoughts, the only reason I'm trading it to you is because it won't let me use it."

"...Doesn't that make it useless?"

"Oh, you poor young, ignorant, fool. Just because I can't use it doesn't mean you can't. Plus it's a ring! That makes it extra valuable for being an accessory."

"Alright whatever I accept your deal, I'm sure having a magic item wouldn't hurt."

"Great! Alright, what I need you to do is simple. You see there is this great merchant that provides the people of this village with goods and he also lives here in a mansion! I need you to kill him...also while you are at it, free the children he had captive in the basement."

'Child captives? I guess Gaia even ripped this idea off the internet. Of course, the rich merchant is evil.'

As Vi was about to accept the request, he got a notification.

As Vi read the quest description, he got a bit fearful. 10 days is practically a death sentence for him this early in the game.

Although the risks were high, the rewards were high as well. He gulped and steeled his nerves, "I don't know you, but I know when something is right. I'll kill him for you, and free the children."

He began to walk out of the alleyway when he felt a hand on his shoulder, "Wait. There is something you need to know first, try to keep it quiet. If the village guard catches wind of this you will be killed and imprisoned with no remorse. Also,, take these, that clunky scythe won't help you right now."

Vi looked back at Terric and saw he was handing him to two daggers he was holding earlier. He put his scythe inside of his inventory before accepting the daggers, one in each hand.

"Alright, thanks. I'll be sure to kill him, I'll come back here when I finish."

Vi began to walk away once again and, this time, he wasn't stopped. The first challenge for him was to find the target, but that wasn't too hard.

He used surrounding objects and climbed up one of the houses. He looked around a bit before he saw the mansion Terric was talking about. It was painfully obvious among all the other village-esk houses.

"Well, I can't fail my first quest. Here goes nothing."

He began to jump along the buildings. He was hesitant during the first couple of jumps, but after jumping for a while he grew some confidence. He began jumping from house to house while running and after only 5 minutes of running and jumping, he made it to the mansion.

He couldn't jump into action just yet though, there were guards posted in different areas around the fence, both outside of the fence and inside.

'I think I accepted this quest too prematurely...how the hell am I supposed to get passed this many guards!'

Vi was stuck on top of a roof, he didn't know what to do. There were so many guards and he didn't have any invisibility-type skills, but it wasn't like he could just skip town. He couldn't afford to be imprisoned for 10 days. He sat down and began thinking of a plan.

After 30 minutes of brainstorming he came up with an idea, 'Alright, maybe just maybe, if I have luck on my side I'll be able to pull this off.'

There was one thing and one thing only that could make his plan slightly possible, bathroom breaks.

That's right, Vi was going to kill someone on the john. It may be dishonorable, but why would he care if it was? He would use every underhanded method he could if it meant getting closer to his family, he would even topple the government itself!

All he had to do now was wait for someone to take a piss. After waiting for about 10 minutes the unlucky guard began to move away from his post to go to the bathroom.

Vi saw this and jumped off the building. He began to trail the guard until he got to the outhouse.

He went to the side of the outhouse and waited for the guard to leave for him to strike. He also heard the soldier saying things to himself.

"God damn Gelmart, who does he think he is to cut my pay! I swear the next time I see him...ugh. That bastard, if he didn't have my sister hostage!"

The guard finished his business and left the outhouse.

Sprshh.

His neck began to spray blood all over the area and he began to fall over. He almost landed on the ground but two hands grabbed him, dragging him back to his feet.

"So has some of the guards' family as hostages? Well, I feel a bit worse about this now, but whatever."

Vi just shrugged and began to strip the almost dead guard to get his uniform. The only reason this could work was because of a mask being apart of the uniform.

After he got the uniform on he got a notification.

Killed Gelmart Guard.

"Don't worry I'll avenge you and save your sister, I'm not a monster...sorta."

Vi wasn't even sure where he would draw the line, or if there even would be a line. He began to make his to where the guard was previously.

"What took you so long Jerrod? You take a shit or something?"

Vi was about to respond when he realized the hole in his plan, he couldn't copy someone's voice. He just nodded at the man questioning him to try and avoid using his voice.

"Alright then...anyway, I need you to tell Isaiah to get over here, I think he was over at William's squad."

Vi once again nodded at the man, but something felt off when he answered.

"I knew it, there is no Isaiah. Who are you? No that doesn't matter right now, what did you do to Jerrod?! Never mind, don't answer, I'll kill you anyway!"
