At Min's House

"Min is in the hospital. What are you doing here?" Min's mom glared at Lin.

"Auntie, my mom wanted to meet you," Lin explained.

"But why?" Min's mom raised an eyebrow.

"I thought I'd introduce my mother to you so that you don't think I'm just a spoiled boy," Lin replied.

Min's mom scoffed. "What difference does it make? You're still a useless, spoiled stray."

Lin gave her puppy eyes. "Really?"

"Yes, now go," Min's mom said dismissively.

Lin hesitated. "Wait… Auntie, do you need anything?"

"What? Nothing," Min's mom replied, amused.

"Ha! Just kidding," Lin chuckled.

"Aunty, wait. My mom is about to arrive," Lin said.

"But why should I meet your mother?" Lin's mom asked.

"You'll find out soon," Lin teased.

"Ah, hello, Mommy," Lin greeted his mother.

"Hello, my baby," Lin's mom replied.

The cup of tea slipped from Min's mother's hands.

(Now only the cup of tea has fallen, but soon her attitude will follow suit, Auntie.)

Mrs. Hou gasped.

Mrs. Hou was so wealthy that she could buy the entire city for Lin.

"Aunty, earlier you wanted me to leave. Let's go, Mommy," Lin said.

"Nah, nah, my son," Min's mom said, her tone softening.

Lin's mom stared at Min's mom.

"I was joking," Min's mom continued. "Why would I ask you to leave? You're my daughter's friend."

"Really?" Lin raised an eyebrow.

(I knew it, Auntie. You love money, which is why you married Min's father and ruined her life.)

"Where is Min?" Lin's mom asked.

"She's in the hospital," Lin replied.

"Alright, let's go meet Min," Lin's mom suggested.

(Aunty, just wait and watch.) Lin smirked.
