Chapter 37 "Made up her mind for revenge"

Yuna finally shut her mouth and complied with Da-eun.. when she finally heard Da-eun speak, she felt relieved after hearing her voice.. the tears she kept in started to pour out of her eyes uncontrollably..

She finally managed to say in between her cries.. "I was so scared that something might have happened to you.." She tried her best to stop herself from crying.. after much effort she finally managed to stop..

Yuna always had a special place for Da-eun in her heart because she was the only one she could confide in and stay sane given her family issues… she always thought of Da-eun as her sister that was not blood related but was more important than that..

Da-eun always stood by her side and she felt secure.. because her father was abusive and her mother couldn't do anything to stop him from hurting her, she always thought of herself as an unfortunate child..

After meeting Da-eun and knowing that she was alone and her parents had died in an accident.. she felt a strong connection with her.. she chose to be her friend.. after that they were always together.. Da-eun helped her close the hole in her heart and made her realize what true connection and bond felt like..

Whenever Da-eun was sick, she'd worry about her and vice-a-versa.. but, this time it was an extreme situation… she never saw Da-eun fainting like that before.. so weak to even support her own body.. She was scared to her wits end, not knowing how to help her out.. how to make sure that she was okay and had recovered? she could only wait for her reply to her texts and calls..

Finally, her call came.. As soon as she saw her name showing on the phone screen, her heart started to beat faster.. after picking up the all, she finally heard Da-eun's voice after a series of questions.. she heaved a sigh of relief and sat on her bed.. finally her heart was feeling calm.. and tears fell down..

Da-eun heard Yuna's voice that was cracked and hoarse because of her crying and said "I'm fine now.. please don't cry or I'll record your voice and play it in front of everyone in the class.." She teased her and tried to cheer up..

And strange enough, it really worked as Yuna as she said hurriedly "No.. you can't do that.. you are my friend, how can you do something like that to me? Even think like that?" Yuna felt wronged after getting teased by her best friend..

Although she knew that Da-eun was only teasing her and wouldn't do that in real, she still played along with her..

Da-eun broke out into a fit of laughter after hearing what Yuna said.. After a few seconds Yuna also started laughing with her.. they only stopped when their stomach started to hurt from the laughter..

Da-eun wiped the tears that were hanging at the corner of eyes and said "Alright, now that you are back to normal… I have something very important to tell you.." her face had a seriousness that she didn't wish to show anyone at that moment lest it worries them..

Yuna heard it and she became curious to know what Da-eun wanted to tell her "What is it? Tell me quickly.." She said in an excited voice.. her eyebrows raised as her eyes opened wide.. she waited for da-eun to speak..

She expected it to be something good.. she never considered the possibility of the 'something important' that Da-eun talked about could be something very serious..

And that's what happened when she heard Da-eun say "I'd have to take a leave for some days.. but don't worry I'm fine and there's nothing to for you to get all worked up.." Da-eun said the last sentence for Yuna to not worry but it resulted in it's opposite..

As soon as Yuna heard it, the excitement on her face vanished in an instant.. and a frown appeared between her eyebrows.. she felt like something was wrong with her statement about taking a sudden leave right after she recovered..

And to clear her doubts she finally asked after a long pause.. "Why a leave all of a sudden? You said that you are fine, then why'd you take a leave that long? Or are you hiding something from me? Is it related to your body? Because you fainted suddenly, is there anything serious that you are not telling me? Tell me honestly.. you are not severely ill, right? If y-you are then you can tell me, we are friends after all.." Yuna tried hard to stop her voice from cracking but it still cracked in the end.. And she felt her throat getting dry all of a sudden..

Da-eun heard her and rubbed between her eyebrows to keep calm and said "No.. it's nothing like that.. I'm totally fine I swear.. Your thoughts are just running wild just because I fainted and was not fine the last few days.." She tried to resolve her doubts.. she wanted to tell her everything but knew that what happened to her was not something that happened to a normal human..

Da-eun felt guilty for hiding something from her best friend but she had no other choice than to do that.. She was still in her thoughts, when she heard Yuna's voice "oh.. then why are you taking a leave?" She heard her and realized from her voice that Yuna was still sceptical about what she said and thought about telling her only a little so that she could feel at ease..

After a thought Da-eun said "Actually.. I just found out today that I have a maternal grandfather from grandpa.. and grandpa and Noah is going to bring me to meet him… Yuna I'm so happy to finally meet someone that's related to me by blood.. after Mom and Dad passed away I always thought that there'd be no one in my family other than them.. but today when grandpa told me that my maternal grandfather in still alive, I can't help but feel overwhelmed with emotions.. I want to see him.. and that's the reason for the long leave.. I'm going to visit him where he lives.."

Da-eun only told her half truth and felt that it'd not hurt her if she told Yuna about her grandfather.. As for the other things, she'd tell her when the time comes.. or not even tell her ever, if there was no need to..

Da-eun was still feeling a little guilty that she couldn't tell her everything and had to hide some things from her friend.. But she had decided in heart to first take revenge for her grandfather.. before that, nothing mattered to her.. for that, if she had to lie or hide something, so be it.. she was ready to do anything.. even put her life on the line.. what a mere lie was compared to her great goal..

As she thought about all this her eyes became resolute and she smiled slightly..
