Kate's life went from bad to worse.
Yang Feng was the worst husband anyone would ever wished for.
After their marriage, he was very sweet to her that for a period of time she really didn't think about the sad part of her life, six months later and things went from sweet to bitter.
He comes home late and he was always drunk and then he will put his frustration on Kate.
Kate prayed for it all to stop. She wants everything to stop. She couldn't continue with her life anymore. She just wants a sweet and caring man who will take care of her and not someone who will derive pleasure from hurting her.
She couldn't take it anymore but she also couldn't do anything to stop the sad end that her marriage was heading to.
She came from a traditional family where marriage was sacred, and wives were expected to love and care for their husbands unconditionally.
She wants all that too. She truly did, which was why she tried to make their marriage work but Yang Feng was so lost in alcohol and his dangerous lifestyle.
It kept going for seven years, one day it all stopped.
He slept and never woke up.
While his family members were crying, Kate couldn't bring herself to cry.
She just felt numb. She couldn't even will herself to show a reaction that she was hurt.
His family parents and siblings never liked her. They were so angry at her that she couldn't give birth to a child while married to their brother for seven years.
The judgements was too much for her.
A few months later, she realized that there was nothing left for her at Michael's house so she went back to her father's house.
Her father was so angry at her that she got nothing from Yang Feng.
He thought she was going to have at least one property to her name but he was disappointed. Yang Feng didn't even leave a small house for her.
Guess he really did hated her.
A new chapter was opened.
****
Kate sat down on her bed, her laptop on her laps. Her long black hair was packed up in a ponytail and she was wearing a t-shirt that cover her breast down to her stomach.
It has been six months since she came back to her father's house but no one has ever acknowledge her.
Why would they?
She was the widow and Elena was a billionaire's girlfriend.
Anytime she thinks about Julian Wang and Elena Bai, it left a soar taste in her mouth.
She was forced into an early marriage just so that her sister could go to one of the best colleges in the world but the said sister couldn't even console her when her husband died.
Kate stared at the photo of Julian Wang and Elena holding hands on her laptop screen. Her hand balled into a fist and she bit on her lips angrily.
He was happy with Elena.
In every pictures of them together he was always smiling. Kate couldn't compete with that, and moreover, who would want to be with a widowed woman?
Some that another man already had for seven years.
She had no chance against Elena.
There was no competition to begin with, Julian has always wanted Elena Bai and not Kate Bai.
She was still trying to understand how she offended the world that the only man, the only thing she has ever wanted so badly happens to belong to her sister.
She couldn't do anything but watch from afar and wish that things were different.
It was dinner time and Kate went downstairs to have dinner with her family, when she got downstairs she was surprised to see Julian Wang and Elena, including Julian's parents.
"Kate, I know that you don't have manners but you should have at least wore something nice before coming downstairs. Do you enjoy tarnishing our images?" Her mother asked angrily.
Kate was speechless.
She was wearing a black T-shirt and a blue jeans. How is that not decent?
What was sho supposed to wear that will be more decent that what she had on?
"But mother....."
"Leave her alone Mother, you know that she is still mourning the death of her husband, don't force her to do anything. Poor Kate." Elena said and flashed her a smile.
Fake. It was all fake.
They were putting on a show but why is that? Just why?
Kate remembered that she hasn't eat throughout the day except for the crackers and hot chocolate she had in the morning and she quickly wrapped her hands around her mid stomach so that she wouldn't embarrass herself in front of Julian Wang or should she call him president Wang and his parents.
He looks so hot as his several pictures, his tousled black hair matches his fit black suit, he had muscles in the right places and he was more focused on Elena than his food.
He was lovesick.
If only Yang Feng was that sweet to her, their marriage would have been different.
"M...mother, where is my food?" She asked her mother.
Her mother gasped dramatically and covered her mouth with her palm.
"I am so sorry, Kate Bai. You know that we have guests so I forgot all about you, how about you go to the kitchen and find something to cook for yourself?" Her mother asked.
Kate bit on her lip angrily and nodded her head trying to force back the tears that was threatening to spill out of her eyes.
Why can't her mother just love her?
She knows that she was not as intelligent or sophisticated as Elena but she was still their daughter.
Why do they have to treat her like a stranger?
No one on the table said a word. Not the Wang's family nor her father.
Guess everyone on the table doesn't like her.
She turned around and ran back upstairs towards her room.
Why did Yang Feng had to die? It was better living with him and get beat up on his bad days than live with her family and never get acknowledged. It sucks.
