As Poppy got ready for her date, Roman's mother popped her head into the guest room. The sun was light shining through the window, giving Poppy and her porcelain skin a beautiful glow. There was something about the girl that Sophia instantly liked and somehow she'd known all along this wasn't Claudia. To her joy, she was right.
"Poppy, may I come in?"
"Yes, Mrs. D'Amico."
"Please. Call me Sophia."
Standing, Poppy gave her red vintage rock-a-billy style halter dress a twirl before she adjusted the black satin ribbon around her tiny waist. Giving a curt nod, Sophia seemed to approve.
"You look adorable. My son is going to be pleased. He always had a thing for those pinup girls. I can see why he likes you."
Showing off some heels she asked, "Stilleto heels or the Mary Jane pumps with the little bow?"
"Mary Jane's. I think you'll be more comfortable with where my son is taking you."
