Chapter 101

"You're going to tell me what you and Luke were up to, Remi. If he touched you I'll beat his ass."

His mother had heard enough. "No. You won't. Luke was being a gentleman, unlike you. He took your sister away from here for the night to deal with her emotions after the Olive situation. He was being a good man. Now, you apologize to that boy."

Roman huffed, "Sorry."

"You can do better than that," his mother scolded.

"I'm sorry, Luke. I think I'm just a little overwhelmed and haven't been thinking clearly. I'm sorry."

"Apology accepted. Now can we eat? I'm freaking starving," Luke said as his stomach grumbled. "Where's the prosciutto?"

As everyone started to work on lunch, Roman went to his sister, still staring her down. He could tell he was hiding something. When he stepped closer, she turned and walked out.

"Remi!" he called after her.

Poppy quickly stepped into action. "Roman, slice these tomatoes."
