Chapter 4

The vast forest in the heart of the Werewolf Land was where the hunting ritual was held, and we would take a uniform train to get there from all areas of the Land, and after a night's rest, the hunting ritual would officially begin tomorrow morning.

I held my ticket in one hand and my suitcase in the other, and walked hard down the aisle, my seat at the back. There were a lot of people on the train, and everyone was busy putting their luggage and making friends, so the aisle was already narrow and difficult to pass.

I said "excuse me" several times and when I reached my row of seats, I held up my ticket many times to confirm that the redhead sitting by the window was actually taking my seat.

"I'm sorry to interrupt, but I think you're sitting in the wrong seat."

She had her headphones on and didn't even hear me. Someone squeezed past my suitcase to reach a subsequent spot on the train, and I was squeezed a little further forward, my toes bumping right into her bag on the floor.

She finally looked up, a pair of very round eyes wide open at me, "Hello?"

"Hello," I nodded perfunctorily, "Can you re-look at the ticket? You're supposed to be sitting in my seat."

My patience was already limited, and now the pent-up irritation in my heart wanted to burst out, so why did it have to be the uniform train? If we could have driven, we wouldn't have encountered such crowding.

She finally took off her headphones and understood what I meant. She picked up her bag on the floor and started rummaging through it, and it took about a minute to find her ticket.

"That's right, that's where I'm sitting."

I took the ticket in her hand in disbelief and found that she didn't even distinguish where the seats marked on the ticket were counted from.

With the last bit of patience, I held up the two tickets in front of her, "This symbol means window, so your seat should be this one near the corridor, and mine is where you are sitting now."

She finally understood and then scratched her head in embarrassment, "I'm sorry, it's my first time on a train, so I didn't get the seats right."

I was a little surprised, although she looked like she was really unfamiliar with the train, but when she said it like that, I still felt surprised.

Once we changed seats, the redheaded young woman handed over a piece of gum, which I accepted in passing, "Thank you."

"My name is Dale Field, I'm 19 years old, I'm Silver Moon Pack Beta's daughter, what's your name?"

" I' m Beryl Brain, 21 years old and I' m from Blue Moon Pack."

Dale and I shook hands briefly, considered to know each other.

"Do you have your eye on someone?" She suddenly came up to me and asked.

I didn't understand what she meant, "What do you mean by "eye on someone"? Is it still possible to pick our mate in advance?"

"I don't mean that," she immediately raised her hand in front of my face and made a big cross, "I mean you should already have someone in mind, right? Don't you want to behave in front of him when the time comes?"

My Moon Goddess, I immediately straightened my back and silently sighed in my heart: what smell produced love, these things were really a lie. I thought I was the only one who couldn't understand such a thing? It turned out that there were already people here who wanted to use opportunism.

But I didn't reveal my inner thoughts to someone I had just met. I ruffled my hair and pretended not to care, "But aren't we females the chosen ones? What's the use of behaving well? In case he picks someone else, isn't it still a waste of effort?"

I thought this woman, who looked just a bit silly, would refute my words, but she suddenly got excited, "Yes, that's right! I just didn't do any preparation. My sisters have spent so much money on dressing up, but I think they're doing nothing because for the very reason you said, the choice is not ours."

I nodded, the first person I met actually had similar thoughts to me, which was actually quite rare.

"But if the benefits are enticing enough, it's inevitable that someone will want to dream a beautiful dream."

I inclined my head to look at her, just in time to see her sly smile, I suddenly became interested, "What benefits? Is it also burdened with the burden of pack marriage?"

I just casually teased so, after all, had come to such an age, my parents had not experienced the marriage thing, was there a pack was such?

"Pretty much, because a powerful pack still makes people yearn for it, especially when you can be the Luna of a powerful pack."

I jerked my head up.

The train had already opened, and the scene outside the window moved so fast that it left only a blurred shadow. For some reason, I remembered what Jayden had said to me, which seemed to change from an assumption to an implication when placed in the middle of the present scenario, and my cold sweat sprang up.

Although I kept telling myself not to care about things like this, I had been having a bit of a panic attack the last few days, and I had been dreading my worst fears.

I coughed softly to clear my throat so that my voice didn't sound shaky, "Really? Will there be any Alphas here who didn't manage to find Luna?"

"Of course," she said immediately, "I thought I knew enough gossip, but I never thought I'd run into you."

I gave a smile. It made sense, because I had actually acquiesced early on that my brother Jayden was the Alpha's heir, so I hadn't been concentrating at all on my Alpha lessons, especially after leaving the pack to study for years.

If someone was to test my knowledge now, I'd probably just be able to count the few packs that were famous on the Land.

"Wyatt Hawker, Alpha Wyatt. You've heard of that name."

"I've heard of it." Actually, no, I had only heard of the surname, and if I was not mistaken, it came from the Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack. But the name Alpha Wyatt was very new to me, was he the current Alpha of Blood Moon Pack? Then dad seemed to have mentioned...

"He participated in a hunting ritual three years ago and was empty for two years after he failed, this is his first hunting ritual after three years. Now few people can say clearly the situation at that time, I have heard of three or four versions."

"He can also not participate in the hunting ritual ... so what happened then?" I unscrewed my glass and took a sip of water, trying my best to look less flustered.

"It's said that someone pissed him off, and some say that he caught his mate's scent, but failed to find her at the ritual, and it just so happened that someone failed to lure him and got his revenge. Not only did he leave the scene of the ritual midway, he also burned down his hut on his way out."

I raised my eyebrows, my impression of the man I had not yet met had changed to a very general one. But most importantly I was relieved that I had only just transformed into my form three years ago and it happened to be on the days when the hunting ritual was held, so I was fortunate enough to escape that one, and then used the excuse of studying outside a few times to escape the latter ones.

But so what? I sighed and leaned back in my seat. Dale looked at me curiously.

"Why are you sighing? Do you want to be Alpha Wyatt's mate too?"

I laughed and raised my hand to slap her on the shoulder, "Don't be ridiculous, I don't like people who burn the house down. Besides, according to your statement, he's not easily seduced and still has a short temper, will I be locked in the house and burned to death if I piss him off?"

We both shivered exaggeratedly at the same time, this was really a horrible thing.

The train had been moving for some time and Dale had fallen asleep against the back of the seat. I shook out a blanket to cover my body, also wanted to get a short sleep before arriving.

Just then, the announcement in the carriage sounded a beep, and a cold woman's voice rang out over our heads.

"Hello passengers, this is Ila Hawker. the train is expected to arrive in half an hour, please be ready to get off."

My eyes that had been closed could only be painfully opened, this was the second time today I had heard the surname Hawker, but this lady I knew because she was the manager of the female werewolves at the next hunting ritual, and I would be acting under her command for the next three days.

This announcement cycled through three times, and the quiet carriage gradually began to bustle with activity.

Dale was jolted awake, her round eyes widened in alarm as she looked around at the commotion of the passengers.

"What's going on? I think I heard a terrible noise."

"Yes," I matched her calmly, "it's the one you're thinking of, Ila Hawker."

She immediately wailed and covered her face, "How come it's still her? Won't she even take a vacation to rest for a while?"

I remained calm, although I fully understood why Dale would react so violently. Lady Ila was married to Blood Moon Pack from Violet Pack, and her husband was the brother of Blood Moon Pack's former Alpha, but he died tragically and unexpectedly shortly after the marriage, and the two left no children.

At this time, she had not yet established a firm foothold in Blood Moon Pack, and was not willing to return to Violet Pack. So she chose a neutral position and became an important person in charge of the Land rituals held.

She was a beauty, and I had seen pictures of her, and although her temperament was a bit detached, it was a look that many would have marveled at. I agreed with that, but what was scary about her was that she simply didn't know how to show mercy.

Whenever she led a pack activity, everyone was tortured by her. She was also very demanding, without any chance of accommodation. But even if she was so famous, I had only heard about her, and in fact I hadn't accomplished anything under her management.

Jayden advised me to be sure to pull my guard into a combat situation, such as the need to move locations the next day must follow the team, lost in the heart of the forest was not a pleasant thing, and this manager would not stop to wait for anyone.

I heard these things at first was not believed, but when I sat here and heard the whole train wailing, I decided that I must come up with the level of combat exercises, right now being chosen or whatever was secondary, the most important thing was to be able to keep up with the team.
