Chapter 10: It Is What It Is

Angela trudged through the day, even with the copious amount of coffee she consumed. No amount could replace the sleep she’d lost, nor could it take away the terrible thoughts she’d battled for the last several days.

She worked through a fluff piece about the oldest woman in the city. She filed all her old stories on their new database. She combed a list of upcoming court dates, trying to find something interesting to cover for her next piece. All in all, it was a perfectly normal, perfectly boring day.

When five o’clock finally hit, she cursed herself for making dinner plans. All she really wanted to do was crawl into bed and sleep through the next few weeks. Not that she’d been sleeping all that well.
