Chapter 14: Waking Up Is Hard To Do

“I don’t know why G-man didn’t just have us leave her there,” a voice boomed in the distance. “No one would find her in this storm. It would’ve been a clean break.”

“Don’t be stupid,” a voice said more quietly. It was a familiar voice, though she couldn’t quite place it in her haze.

Her head was pounding, and her ears were ringing. Her body felt strange, like it was being suspended in an unnatural position. She was so tired and so dizzy, she wanted to collapse back into sleep, but something about this situation wasn’t right. Though sleep tried to claim her, she fought against it. Who were those voices?

“Do you have any idea who she is? She’s much more valuable to us alive,” the familiar voice said. It was like the voice of an angel, but wrong somehow. Gruffer than she knew it to be. Daniel’s voice, but not Daniel’s voice because he was dead. Diego’s voice then.

Why was Diego there? Where was there?
