Angela spent the next few hours practicing deep breathing exercises she’d learned in therapy. After Daniel died, she learned that when everything was out of control, the only thing she could do was control her breathing. During those first few weeks, she had several panic attacks and could barely make it through the night without waking up from a nightmare. She sought therapy hoping to get some strong medications and forget her own name. Unfortunately for her, the therapist she found wanted Angela to find healthier ways to cope.
In hindsight, she was grateful. Numbing her pain was not an option now. She had to be sharp and on alert so that she’d be prepared for whatever Germaine and his men had planned for her. She couldn’t help but feel abandoned now, though.
