Chapter 25: Quick Thinking

“You’re a lot braver than I gave you credit for,” Germaine said appreciatively. He lowered his gun and let go of Diego. “You’ve got cajones. And you don’t even have cajones,” he laughed. He looked at Tiny and Diego, expecting them to laugh with him.

Diego was stunned beyond words, while Tiny was feeling a rage he’d never experienced before. Neither man acknowledged Germaine, let alone cracked a smile at his joke.

Germaine shot his gun in the air, shaking the two men out of their individual reveries.

Angela flinched at the sound but didn’t move from her position. This impressed Germaine even more.

“Let’s hear it then,” Germaine said. “Captivate us with your pitch. Why shouldn’t I kill both of you right now? Why do I need you?”
