Chapter 28: Consequences of Our Actions

Angela and Diego sat up sharply when they heard the sound of locks being turned. After their passionate kiss, they spent the rest of the evening talking and kissing in between short naps. They’d fallen asleep wrapped around each other, tangled up on the floor on top of the comforter Angela had been wrapped in the night before. It was the least bloody place they could find to sleep.

They quickly moved apart, though, as their bubble was burst. They wanted to face whatever new challenges spring up together, but they didn’t want to enrage Germaine even more. It was best, for the time being, to appear to be at odds.

“Sleep well, lovebirds?” came Dexter’s cheery voice. However, as he entered the room and saw the blood still splattered everywhere, he quickly ran to the bathroom to start hurling again.

“Kid’s got a weak stomach,” Diego murmured to Angela, who had to stifle a giggle. After all, they’d spent the entire night among the mess. They’d survived.
