Angela’s resolve to wait for Diego was quickly shattered when Tiny came back to rescue Dexter and give her an assignment.
“Let’s see what you’re really worth,” Tiny sneered at her.
She followed Tiny out of the room, reveling in the feeling that she wasn’t blindfolded, handcuffed, or wrapped in a comforter. For the first time since arriving, Angela was able to really get a sense of where she was. She recognized the old, cracked façade of the abandoned motel. It was set back off a quiet highway, hidden behind a grove of trees and overgrown plants. She had the general sense that she’d seen this place before. She’d probably passed it on her travels through the county. It was the kind of place that no one would intentionally look for. The perfect place to run an illegal business.
