Chapter 30:An Impossible Choice

On the seventh day, Angela finally got the answer she’d been waiting for. Tiny came to collect her from The Den of Freaks earlier than usual. Instead of leading her back to her room, though, he led her in the opposite direction, to the last door on the last building.

She could see the peeling word “office” still on the window. She wondered how long it had been since it had actually been a functioning office. Then again, she had no idea where Germaine did his work. Maybe it was still a functioning office.

She was more unnerved than usual, especially since Tiny seemed almost gleeful. In the short time that she’d known him, his emotions ran from surly to downright mean. Seeing him even slightly happy was enough to make her earlier lunch churn in her stomach. Something was definitely not right.
