Chapter 43: The Mole

“I don’t like it,” Diego said, shaking his head. He was pacing back and forth in the living room, one of the habits Angela hadn’t missed.

The money Germaine gave her was sitting on the kitchen table. They both kept looking at it, not exactly sure what to do with it.

“You get paid by him all the time,” Angela pointed out. “It’s not like you’re too good for his money.”

“Yes, but I’ve had to do a lot of bad stuff to get that money. And Germaine always asks for more. First, you’re handing him classified information, then you’re literally burying a body.”

Angela shuddered at the thought and refused to dwell on how many bodies Diego had probably buried.

“Maybe I should donate it to charity?”

Diego scoffed. “Yes, what charity doesn’t want blood money?”

Angela sighed in frustration. “There you go not liking any solutions that aren’t your own!” she said dramatically. Her tone caused Diego to stop pacing.
