Chapter 49: A Call to Action

Twelve hours later, Diego’s phone was blowing up with texts from Germaine, Tiny, and several other gang members. They were all sending around the same YouTube video of Mayor Page’s special press conference from that morning.

“Two nights ago, our brave police force infiltrated the hiding place of one of the most notorious gangs in our city. This gang has wreaked havoc on our community, causing an up-tick in violence, drug use, and general crime. We’ve been working to take this group down for over a decade, and we are closer than we’ve ever been.”

Mayor Page looked sharp on the news. Much better than he had the night before in his PJs.

“That same night, a drug bust was made across town, and notorious drug lord, Germaine Fuentes, was brought into custody.”

“I turned myself in, pendejo,” Germaine had texted him earlier.

“At this time, we are viewing these events as related, and we’re working to bring in every member of this dangerous gang.”
