Angela woke up once more to find a tray with a gorgeous breakfast laid out for her. Also on the tray was a vase of flowers and a mimosa.
“To what do I owe this treat?” she asked, smiling.
Diego leaned down to kiss her, and soon the tray of food was placed aside as they found a more interesting way to wake up. When they were finished, Diego rolled to his side and gazed at her. She looked back at him with a line between her brow.
“You’re worried, aren’t you?” she guessed.
He closed his eyes slowly and rested his forehead against her shoulder. She ran her fingers through his hair and began stroking his head. She felt him relax against her.
“This could go really badly,” he murmured. “Germaine has avoided arrest for years, what makes us think we can finally bring him down?”
She turned to face him and hold his face in her hands.
“Because we’re willing to tell the police everything we know. We’re willing to testify and bring him down.”
