I wasn't expecting that response but I wasn't going to give up so easily either. So, I decided to switch up my strategy.
"You're not the other party, how would you know what he'll do? Why don't we make a bet? I think he'll talk to me."

I wasn't sure whether Anton would speak to me or not. But I made the bet anyway just so that I had a chance to meet Anton.
Hart must have easily seen through my intentions but he did not throw me under the bus. Instead, I would say that he was enjoying watching my ugly self acting so determined in a bet I was bound to lose.
