IT LOOKED EMPTY.
She was here, in his house once but never really looked through it.
It didn't feel like he lived here. It was as empty as vessel ,apart from few paintings and decor items.
She wobbled to the kitchen. When the first time she came here, Darius had warned her about Orion that he was not the right man to hangout with. Now that she really thought about it. It made some sense. She was not a fool to believe that just because of business rivalry he would get welcomed with bullets.
She had tons of questions to ask but had no one to answer it.
The foremost question was ' Where did Orion had gone now ? '
Just few minutes ago he was in the facing side of guns and powder, death was hovering over him, and now he had disappeared like as if it didn't matter.
He was mysterious.
And a fool.
Taking out a bottle from refrigerator she gulp down the chilled water. She decided to wait for him. Although she was tired , she tried to keep her eyes open. Her body was in pain and begged for her to let it rest but Ruth was too adamant to get the answer that she ignored all.
It was 1 in the night when Orion was back to his penthouse. The bodyguards told him that Ruth didn't have once asked for anything. He gave a nod and entered his house which was as dead as grave. When he rounded up to living he saw that Ruth was sleeping on the sofa , in an uneven posture.
He walked to her and knelt down in front of her sleeping form. She looked calm and at peace ,contrast to the times when she always sneers at him and argues with him for no reason. However he liked the both sides of her. It was what made her different from others. She speaks for truth rather than giving false comfort.
He had always been obstructed by her beauty. So pure, too etheral to be true. Mark had said it to him many times that Ruth was beautiful but not that much which would make any men to worship her. To Mark Ruth was like other beautiful girls, her visual was mediocre. However Mark respected Ruth, she was the only one who could literally disrespect Orion and make out alive. But to Orion she was above them all, afterall it was her personality that made him attracted to her, not her outer beauty.
He knew if something had happened to her today he would never have forgave himself. It was not in him to let harm come her way, it was too much loss to be afforded by him.
He knew she had so much to ask to him but for the time being he let her have the peaceful sleep. The dreadful day must have sucked all her energy.
A beautiful smile tugged on her lips in her sleep. Copying to that his lips also arched up. He needed that beautiful smile of her for assurance that she was having a good dream instead of having a horrifying nightmare.
Orion slowly but carefully put his one arm under her neck and one under her knees to lift her up and took her to his bedroom . Gently laying her down on the soft mattress he covered her with the quilt.
After taking a shower he went to his study to sort out some paperwork. Sleep was miles away from his eyes so he decided to use this for his profit and the main reason of this sleepless night was his fear for Ruth.
At noon, after the incident, he along with Mark had gone to their hideout to discuss who could be the one to formulate the plan of taking out Orion. Who?
For a fact it was just to threaten him. They could have easily killed him. He was defenseless and Ruth was with him. He was the most vulnerable at that time. It was perfect time for them. Or it could be that they were fool to leave him. Because if they knew Orion really, he would never leave them peacefully now.
Orion didn't have any clue WHO was behind this but he swore to himself that the day he would find him, that man would never see the next daylight of his life.
His mind wasn't on the papers, it was stuck on the ' what if'. What if he was not this lucky and a bullet have hit her. His head was pounding like a bus had run over him. This was not new for Orion, he had come out of these situations many time in the past but the difference with today was he feared, not for himself.
Orion held out a paper to look for the values but was stuck in it. A phone call brought him out of his trance.
" I have a clue, it might be wrong but we have to look into it, maybe it would lead us to somewhere. "
Mark, from the othe side said to Orion.
" I'm listening. "
Orion threw out all the thoughts and listened to Mark point to point.
" As you instructed I checked the CCTV footage again and one thing was very odd about it. "
Mark continued.
" What? "
Orion asked.
" Remember the man who we suspected to be the spy, for Sals case? "
" What about him Mark? "
" Well he had a tatoo remember and from the CCTV footage I saw the same tatoo in one of the man's arm who were firing at you. It was not clear as the camera was a bit far but I have doubt it was it. Well if I'm right..... "
" Both were from the same gang or Cartel. "
Orion completed the words for Mark.
" Yes. It couldn't be a coincidence. By the way I'm trying to get a clear footage, now that the police is involved it would be a little difficult but I can pull some strings for you. "
Mark was lawyer, although most of the cases he took was for Orion. So for him he could manipulate Police and get other footages.
" How's Ruth? "
Mark asked. He was also concerned about her, and now even more because now he knew Orion's feelings for her.
" She is sleeping. I hope when she wakes up she better not kill me. "
Orion chuckled, he would not be surprised if his predictions happened to be true.
" You deserve it. What were you thinking when you took her to that forsaken place where there was no camera at the cafe. "
" I know I wasn't thinking logically. "
Orion admitted. When they were checking for cameras then they came to know that the cafe didn't have any single camera. He cursed his foolish friend for that.
He cut his call and leaned back on his chair when a sweet melodic voice interrupted him.
" Orion, is that you? "
