Just Treat The Dying Rabbit Already

[MARINA]

Clack!

Marina huffed with annoyance because hearing her mother's voice made her blood boil. Evidently, the hatred towards her increased as the minutes passed by. Imagine that was only on the phone, and the only thing she heard was her voice calling her name, what would happen when she arrived at the pack?

That stuck in Cecil's mind as she increased the speed towards home, she wished she had the answer to that.

As her mother, Cecil knew the people staying inside the packhouse were not the same as them, and as such, she was aware of everything that occurred inside those four walls. The vivid picture of her running around screaming at Marina to slow down.

It is her way of mourning. This kept replaying in Cecil's mind, at least, it made her not lash out at Marina and told her she was acting weird and weirder as each moment passed.

The drive back took longer than expected because Marina kept asking her to either slow down or stop each time she spotted a creature on the road. Cecil wanted nothing but to smack Marina as she screamed at her, "scream with your head out, please."

Earlier, just a few miles from her home, she calmly asked Cecil to stop the car for a tortoise to pass.

Half-heartedly, Cecil did that. They sat in the car in the eerily silent as they watched the tortoise cross over as if it owned the road. Luckily for the tortoise, the road was empty, and reached the other side alive.

Marina hummed slowly to a song inside her head. She wore the same expression as she did earlier in her house. Never showed her emotions at all.

Figuring she didn't want to talk, Cecil only focused on driving.

"Hoooi," Marina screamed, making Cecil hit the brakes abruptly. "Now, now. Don't you care?"

"Not again, please." Cecil half-whispered.

With the same annoyance she had when she heard her mother's voice, Marina unbuckled her seatbelt, glared at Cecil to open the door, and rushed out to the road. In the middle of the road, a dying rabbit lay there. The soft whim escaping its mouth, Marina rubbed its fur, and shouted, "It is dying, we gotta go to the vet."

"Hell no," Cecil shouted back as she got off her car.

Standing up slowly with the dying rabbit in her arms, Marina narrowed her eyes at Cecil, "are you suddenly against animals, Cecil?"

Cecil looked up at the sky and mumbled a cuss. "There is a clinic ahead of us. Alpha Marina, I swear to your soul, if you do something drastic again, I will make sure to tie you on the back seat…"

A smirk spread on Marina's face, and a vivid picture of her tied at the seat formed on her face. Infuriated by the smirk, and the fact that she still remembered Marina flirtatiously telling her, "I need you." Cecil looked away as she felt blood rushing onto her face in a rush.

Chuckling, Marina brushed past her and set down the rabbit on the passenger seat. "Aren't you coming?"

"I am coming," Cecil shouted back, as soon as the words left her mouth, she felt embarrassed again. Hearing the chuckle from Marina, she realized how fucked up her friend was. Strutting back to Marina, she narrowed her eyes at her friend, and waved warningly at her, "stop making weird comments, Marie, and seriously, the rabbit in the passenger seat, dang!"

Seeing Marina had no intention of removing it, she took the rabbit slowly and placed it on the back seat. She held the door open for Marina to enter, not missing the smirk still on her face. 'Weird!' She thought.

"Wait, give me a minute," Marina called out. She took the bottle of water and washed her hands, she returned to the car and whispered encouragingly, "now drive, we must save the rabbit."

Cecil felt a shudder when her eyes found the rabbit's, she saw its eyes opening and closing. One thing was for sure, the fucking rabbit was watching her moves and gave her the creeps. She spared Marina a glance and found her bobbing her head to what she imagined was an imaginary song playing inside her mind.

"Bad karma." Cecil couldn't help but wonder.

Ten minutes later, Cecil slowed down towards a vet shop. Once inside, Marina carefully explained to the vet how to treat the rabbit. Weirdly, it fascinated the vet as she stared at Marina with profound interest.

Annoyed, Cecil wrapped her arm around Marina's waist, making the vet grin. "Can we go now?" She whispered to Marina.

"Uhm." Marina hummed.

The vet placed her palm on top of Marina's hand, she purred, "thank you for rescuing her, if you…"

Cecil interjected, "fuck off, woman. Just treat the rabbit already." The woman's eyes widened. Before she could answer, Cecil pulled Marina to the car. As she drove to The Lake, she swore not to stop. Even if buffalos walked in front of them, she won't stop.

She didn't sign up for any of that. Hell no!

The sight of Lake Rimaria welcomed them, calling for Marina to sprint towards it, and yell how breathtaking it was.

The lake spread wide, and as they got closer, the look on their face matched the tourists whenever they saw it. The small trees planted at the edge of the shore did the lake a favor as they brought a certain natural beauty no one would miss.

A few minutes later, the wonder on Marina's face vanished. The packhouse coming into sight.

Two guards opened the gigantic gate faster when they heard a car sound from a far distance. Upon arriving, Cecil nodded at them and drove into the packhouse's compound, the car came to a stop, "Marina, I am here for you." Cecil mumbled.

"Alpha Marina is here!" A wolf shouted from across them.
