Was it a Nightmare?

Canary steadily opened her eyes upon hearing her name. The blurred vision became vivid once she opened her eyes.

"What…? Where am I?", she glimpsed at the ceiling then looked around, "hospital…?"

She helped herself up and leaned on the pillow. Then she heard the sound of opening the door.

"Canary! You're awake?" Hyacinth entered the room and said with a worried face.

Canary couldn't recollect her memory at first but when that scene struck her mind upon watching Hyacinth's face, she jolted with her eyes wide open.

"Canary…? Are you okay?" He asked with his hand lifting towards her shoulder.

"Don't! Don't…come near me." She said while squeezing her legs towards herself with her arms along with fear in her eyes.

"Canary?", he said with worried eyes, "Why are you behaving this way? Have you had a nightmare? Are you feeling okay? May I call the doctor?"

Seeing his calm behavior Canary doubted her memory. She was still afraid of him but mustered up her courage to analyze the situation. She pretended to be calm though she was extremely nervous inside.

"Hyacinth, tell me how did I get here?"

"You don't remember?"

Hearing his words, her heart was about to burst out because she recalled that scene. She gazed him straight in the eyes with uncertainty.

"I found you passed out on the street as I was heading towards the public library. I became worried and brought you straight to the hospital but the doctor said it was nothing serious. You just had low blood sugar due to which you passed out."

"What…?", asked Canary with puzzled eyes.

"Yes. Here! I brought you some candies and snacks. And, don't worry I informed the librarian that you are sick today so you can't go there."

Canary calmed down a bit after giving attention to his words because she often blacked out due to her low blood sugar. But, she still doubted her memory to be a nightmare because it felt so realistic.

Meanwhile, the doctor came to check up on her.

"Hello, there! Are you feeling fine now?"

"Hun?...Aah!...Yes. I am feeling better."

"Please make sure to carry some candies all the time because it is very dangerous if you pass out every time."

"Ah, sure, Doctor!" She smiled.

The doctor, then, left.

She was completely assured after hearing the words of the doctor. She thought of the following words in her heart.

Maybe I am overthinking. There is no way for a person who murders someone to be this calm. I think it truly was a nightmare.

She picked the snacks up from the table that Hyacinth brought, took some candies, and chewed them happily.

Hyacinth was delighted to see her. He patted and caressed her head and told her the following words while leaning his face near her.

"Please make sure you always take care of yourself. You honestly scared the hell out of me."

"Hmm!" She nodded yes with a smile.

"Want me to drop you home?"

"No, it's okay. I can go by myself."

"Okay!"

Saying this, he moved towards the door.

"Bye", he said.

"Bye-bye!", she replied.

As he closed the door, the side of his lips curved upwards and he smirked with vicious eyes.

On the other hand, Canary innocently chuckled saying, "He acts just like a big brother. I'm glad I have a friend like that."

Then she suddenly realizes something.

"Oh! Mother's birthday is just the day after tomorrow. I have to pass invitations to my friends", then she slaps her forehead, "And I also forgot to invite Hyacinth! How forgetful of me. Well… I'll invite them tomorrow. It's not like we're having a grand ceremony for a birthday." She said while sucking juice with the help of a straw.

Canary came back home from the hospital and as she entered her home, she was bombarded by questions.

"Canary! How are you? Do you have any idea how much your father and I were worried about you? How many times have we told you to keep some candies with you?"

"Mama! Relax. I am fine. But,… how do you know?"

"Your friend stopped by. What was his name again? Yeah, Hyacinth!"

"Hyacinth! He came, all the way, from the hospital just to inform you?" She asked surprisingly.

"That's right. He is a very good boy. He said that he doesn't have your number so he came all the way here." Saying this, she gave a slight slap on her head and then said, " What kind of a friend are you? You should have given him your number! Do you know how much of a distance it is from the hospital to our home?"

"Yes, sorry. I'll give him my number next time." Canary said apologetically.

"Now come help me with the herbs."

"Yes, Mama!" She smiled brightly.

----------

Hyacinth's grandfather was chewing peanuts, meanwhile, William came and banged open the door.

"Master! Master!" He shouted.

From the sudden surprise, his master almost choked. He threw some of the peanuts at him.

"Young brat! Do you want to choke me? What is it?"

"Young Master! I found the red tulips! No, the one with the red tulips. No! I mean…."

"Just calm down! Take a deep breath and tell me."

William took a deep breath and said.

"Master, I found out who gave those flowers to the young master."

Hearing such words, his master jolted with joy.

"Is that what I think?"

"Yes, Master! It is a girl who is in the same class as the young master. He also goes all the way, from his home to her street, just to pick her up in the morning and vice versa."

"Yes!" His master banged the table, then said, "Now all we have to do is to get that girl on our side."

"Yes, Master! I hope everything will be alright."

"Hah! It's been five years, William. One wrong decision of mine turned all of our lives upside down. I regret that choice so much. I thought it was for the better. But…I was wrong." His master said with deep sorrow in his eyes.
