Sweet moments

Canary was sound asleep in her pajamas like a baby. All of a sudden, a sharp sound of alarm stung her ears. She lifted her hand towards the alarm clock slowly and clumsily. Turned off the alarm and looked at the time. It was time for school. She got up and tied her frizzy hair. Washed up, wore her uniform, and came out of her room for breakfast.

"Good morning!" She said.

"Good morning!" Her parents replied collectively.

"Father! Be ready at the nursery tonight. I'll lure mom there by some excuse." She sent signals through her eyes and eyebrows.

"Okay! We should transfer the presents there after you come back from school." He received her signals and sent his own.

"Okay." She demonstrated through her hand by curling up her index finger and thumb together, and all three other fingers in the air.

She and her parents ate together and then each of them went to their work.

[At school]

Canary and daisy communicated through sticky notes during the lecture.

"Daisy, today's my mother's birthday. You're invited." Wrote Canary.

"What! You should've told me earlier. Why are you telling me now? I didn't even prepare a present." Daisy wrote and showed an unpleased expression.

"Don't worry! It is not that big of a deal. There are only a few of us. It's not something grand. And….I am inviting you and only one more friend. You both are the only friends I have. "

"Liar! Don't even make me count how many friends you have! Everywhere you go you make them all friends just in minutes."

"It's not like that! How many times have I told you they are just acquaintances? Not Friends! You and Hyacinth are my only friends."

"Hyacinth? It sounds like a boy's name. You fox! Tell me are you both purely friends or is there something more between the two of you?"

"Daisy!" She whispered hard and blushed due to her innocence.

Meanwhile, their teacher caught them.

"Canary! Daisy! Stand up the both of you. I have been watching for a while but you both just won't stop. Go and kneel out of the class."

"Sorry, teacher." They collectively said.

"No excuses!" The teacher replied.

"Yes." They both said and went out of the classroom for their punishment.

"Why did the teacher have to notice only now? My knees will hurt now at my mother's birthday party." Said Canary.

"It wouldn't have happened if you invited me beforehand. You forgetful being." Daisy criticized her.

[At Hyacinth's grandfather's villa]

Hyacinth's grandfather was chewing some candies from the box he secretly kept in his room, meanwhile, William came and caught him red-handed.

"Master!"

His master was startled.

"Master, how many times have I told you not to eat any sweets? The doctor forbade you strictly." William completed his sentence.

"I didn't eat them!", he yelled, "I merely tasted a tiny bit of them." He acted like a child.

"Master! Your tiny tasting is eating a whole bunch." He yelled.

He snatched the box from him.

"I am keeping it with myself until I hear from the doctor that your diabetic report has improved."

His master dramatically started emotionally threatening.

"Have I raised you all these years just to see this day? You even snatched candies from me. My God! How miserable I am!", then he lifted his hands till his legs as he was sitting, "You were this little….when your parents died. I raised you….all alone! You would always come to my room at night saying you were unable to sleep alone. I would make you sleep with me with a lullaby and consider you no less from my flesh and blood." He said while dramatically wiping off his fake invisible tears. His dramatic way of acting was Oscar-winning.

William became emotional.

"Master… I…I…", he emotionally said, "I am not gonna get fooled by your acting this time." He completed his sentence with a stern face, picked a candy from the box, and ate in front of him to show his determination.

"This!...this!…this young brat! Hmph!" He pointed his finger at William while he left the room chewing candy.

[After Off-time at school main gate]

Hyacinth was some meters behind Canary because Daisy was with her. As usual, he wore a mask on his face. He was just waiting for Daisy to leave Canary so could walk her home.

"Make sure to be on time. We are celebrating it in the flower shop." Canary said regarding her mother's birthday.

"Why the flower shop? I think it would be better at home. The warmth of home makes the family close."

"I know. But, dad and I made it that way this time because we thought it would be amazing to cut the cake between so many flowers. And if you turn all the lights off with candles lit on the cake, the scent of flowers makes the moment amazing."

"Yeah….Good point!"

"Okay, bye!" Canary waved while parting.

"Bye-bye! I'll be on time." Daisy waved in reply.

As Daisy left, Hyacinth took his mask off and joined Canary.

"Hi!" Hyacinth greeted her.

"Hello! You're just on time. I am inviting you to my mother's birthday party tonight. Make sure to be on time."

"Wow!.... Wait a sec….tonight!?"

"Yes… hahaha… Honestly, I did the same to my friend today. I am sorry for being so forgetful." She said with an awkwardly embarrassed face.

"No… I mean it's quite sudden. I didn't prepare any gift."

"It's not that big of a problem. It's just you and my friend, Daisy, that I have invited. No one else. So…you don't have to feel burdened. Just the presence of both of you is enough."

Meanwhile, when they were chatting, Daisy remembered something to ask Canary and when she came back to the spot she left, she saw the both of them chatting. She thought of the following words in her heart.

"Canary is with a boy? I think he is that boy she was talking about earlier", she chuckled, " but, wait…that boy…it's the boy who sits in front of her desk. When did they become so close?", upon the closer look of his face, she said, "He looks so familiar to me. But, … Where have I seen him?"

She then left with those questions in mind.

"Okay", Hyacinth replied upon Canary's statement, "When is the due time?"

"I'll text you."

"Ahm…but…I don't have your number?" He said while being shy.

"Oh! Thank God you reminded me!"

She then told him her number and he saved it.

"Thanks." Said Hyacinth.

"No problem." She replied.
