Caring for you

[At Canary's house]

Canary greeted her mother when she came home and went straight to her room. She freshened up and changed into her regular clothes. She picked up the bag in which she had put the newly bought dress of her mother as a present. She walked out of the room unnoticed as her mother was busy. She reached the main door and informed her mother that she was going to the flower shop.

"Mom! I am going to the flower shop."

"Okay, but make sure to study well. Your pre-mid exams are approaching."

"Okay, Mom!"

She closed the door and left on her bike.

-------

She was singing happily on the way. All of a sudden, she saw another girl on the bike coming her way and screaming.

"Everyone get aside! The brakes failed! The brakes failed!"

Canary gasped. The girl was about to strike her but she managed to get away. She fell aside with her bike on the ground. Unfortunately, the bag fell off with half the dress exposed for the other girl's bike to get ripped. That girl fell off the bike as well due to the dress as an obstacle.

Canary got up with some bruises on her knees and arms. Her knees were already hurting due to kneeling for the whole period in school. Now the stinging of the bruises made it worse. She dusted off her clothes. The other girl was all intact as she was wearing a knee and elbow protector along with a helmet.

Canary turned and suddenly got a glimpse of the ruined dress. She was dumbfounded with her heart pounding violently.

"Oh, No!....No! No! No!", tears rolled up in her eyes, "What…What am I gonna do now?"

"I'm sorry. It was an accident." The other girl came near her and apologized.

"It's okay, you can go. I won't hold you accountable." She said with a sullen face with half the tears gathered in her eyes.

Canary had a rational personality. Despite the toughest situation, she was never unreasonable.

The other girl looked at her apologetically one more time and walked away with her bike.

Hyacinth had watched the whole scenario. How did he get here? Let me tell you. Hyacinth never resided in that area in the first place. He had a huge flat bought for him by his parents who were no more with him. He lived there with their memories. Every day he would ask his private driver, Thomas, to leave him near the area where Canary lives and told him to pick him up from the same location. He did the same today. He had asked his driver to drop him there quickly as soon as he got changed out of his uniform and freshened up. Most importantly, he forbade his driver to mention it to anyone.

He was hiding at some distance. He came out and went near Canary.

She was sobbing and sniffing silently with her face down watching the ripped dress in her hands. The moment she heard steps toward her and saw his shoes, she lifted her face upwards and looked at him with tears rolling down her eyes.

"It's ruined….The dress my mother liked so much.", she said.

Hyacinth felt pain in his chest and couldn't help hugging her. He patted her head and consoled her.

"Don't worry. If you want I can fix it for you."

"You can fix this? Do you mean it?" She said while calming down a little bit and letting herself go of the hug.

"Yes. I have a friend who is friends with the famous designer who designed this dress. He still owns the original piece. This one is just a copy."

"But that must be expensive."

"You don't have to worry about the money. Consider it my gift for your mother's birthday." He slipped these words out of his mouth because he was swayed by his emotions for her.

"Do you have enough money to buy that?" She asked with a curious face.

"Uhh…Ahem…Um…Don't worry it's not that expensive", he said while coming back to his senses and clearing his throat, "He will give me a great discount if I mention my friend." He said with a calm smile.

"Really?" Her face brightened up.

"Yes. Just a sec… let me call him."

"Okay!"

Hyacinth took out his phone from the back pocket of his pants. He dialed a number and put the phone to his ear.

"Tina! Do you have the dress you designed last year?"

"I am sorry but who is it?"

"I am Ren. Ren Griffith. Remember me now?"

"Ren…? Ren! Is that really you? The young master of The Griffith Family?"

"Yes. Why are you so surprised? I need a favor."

"Wow!... I can't believe Ren Griffith is asking me a favor. Is today my lucky day?"

"Hey, it's not like I am calling you for the first time."

"You are calling me for the first time! I was always the one who called you first! Anyway, tell me how I can help you."

"I want the dress you designed last year. The one you decided to auction this year."

"What? What! Ren Griffith! How dare you ask for that dress! You know how to get on my nerves. That dress is my masterpiece. There is no way I am giving it to you."

"Tina! I am willing to do anything for you as a repayment. Just give me that dress. I want it for my friend."

"Damn your…. wait, what? Is your friend a girl?"

"Of course, or why else would I want that dress?"

Tina smirked and suddenly changed her speaking tone.

"Oh…Okay. You can come to my boutique."

"But keep it a secret from my friend. I told her I know you through a friend", said Hyacinth while thinking in his heart, "What's with the sudden change?"

"Aah!... Alright."

He ended the call and put the phone back into his pants back pocket.

"Let's go, Canary!"

"Okay!" She ran towards him with a smiling face as he was at some distance.
