Unsettling history

"Do you really want to save the royal family? Even after all what they did to us?" Landon turned towards me and inquired with a serious look on his face.

"Honestly, I do not know. At first I was about to refuse my father's offer. I guessed curiosity got the better of me. I was a little bit curious of what my dad had to say about the Emperor. But then again, I got sentimental after seeing the way the Emperor was before me," I said as I returned a wistful smile towards Landon.

"And so what do you intend to do next after saving their family huh?

" That? I do not know. As much as I would love to see them suffer. I'd rather save them than to see this realm become subjected to a bunch of demon raiders." I replied with my hands clutched firmly to the wheels.

Hearing my words, Landon inhaled and exhaled deeply before declaring.

"Is that why you still remain in this realm. Everyone else is scattered around the world. I was a bit surprised when I got your message stating I should come over here.

To be honest, I was on the verge of burning the letter you sent but my wife warned me not to as she forced me to be here. We were currently thin on coins and based on this fact, She said she'll handle the cubs alone provided I return back with some shining golden yellow coins. I was then pushed into accepting this little quest of ours. So yeah!! I'm basically here for the money. "

I had the desire of inquiring about how he was able to squander such a huge amount that had been afforded to him after our victory against the demon Lord but I knew what his reply would be. If there's something Landon cares about more than his own life, it's probably his experiments.

He loves coming up with new ideas for his potions. He's willing to spend a fortune on an ingredient he deemed valuable of using at that particular moment in time. He's more like a potion brewing maniac.

"Nevertheless my friend, I'm glad you came," I expressed my sincere gratitude.

"Although I'm a little bit concerned about why you chose to request my aid alone for this quest with your level as low as it is,"

"You've noticed huh?"

"I was a bit skeptical when you insisted on me bringing a bunch of level up potions but after witnessing you now, I'm certain something had happened to you."

Based on the fact that Silver and higher rank adventurers are capable of successfully concealing their levels and discerning the levels of other adventurers respectively, Landon was able to successfully evaluate Dante's levels based on the amount of aura he could release and also because Landon was a gold rank potioneer.

"You're right my friend,"

"Should I be concerned?"

"No. I should be able to level up soon enough,"

"Then you better. If the enemy is who we think they are then you need to get your levels back up as soon as possible. I'm neither a vanguard or a rearguard, I'm just the guy who makes potions so you can't expect me to suddenly step up into a battle expert position,"

"Haha.... I'll keep that in mind," I guffawed before reassuring Landon.

"Unlike me, I'm sure the others (ex-members of the hero's party) have gotten stronger over the years."

"I guess you could say that, but it would still be nothing but speculations. Anyway what class of adventurer is Axel?"

"Hmm, He's a bronze ranked spell caster,"

"What! A bronze rank spell caster?!"

"Yeah! What do you expect me to do? I can't just start looking for capable warriors willing to fight an Obsidian ranked monster like it was a mundane thing for them.

I had to hurry over here with the aim of getting the job done and then going back home as soon as possible."

"We're so heading on a suicide mission," I said as I hung my head in disappointment.

At first I thought Axel might actually be an explorer just like me, I didn't expect him to be a spell caster. This just means all the vanguard duties will be placed on yours truly. *Sighs*

"Well, you better not make it so. I've got family back home. Once we get to the city, I will immediately hand over all the level up potions to you so you better start training fast to enable your body to adapt quickly to your level boost. I do not want to return back home a corpse you got that?"

"Alright, Alright . I get it."

Seeing as how our team's strength is purely insufficient to handle an Obsidian Rank monster. I've got no choice but to push beyond my limits by training as though we were in a period of war.

We've got a gold rank potioneer, a silver rank adventurer, and a bronze rank spell caster. All that remains right now was to know what class and rank the fallen Angel Cecilia currently is. If she's anything less than a bronze rank adventurer then we'll be screwed on this mission.

Although one could argue about the fact of having strength in numbers, still it's better to have a small number of party members where it will be easier to know about each other strengths and weaknesses than to have an army of inept soldiers unable to adapt quickly to the vicissitudes that comes with battling high ranked monsters.

Normally a party consist of nine members which include an Archer, Adventurer/Explorer, Assassin, Marksman, Potioneer/ Potion brewer, Priest, Spell Caster, Spear Man and Sword Saint.

There are nine guilds present in various cities of the Rosswell Empire. The adventurer guild being one of them is the only guild containing four job classes. Which includes the Archers, Explorers, Sword saints and Spear man.

The Assassin guild contains two job class namely the job class Assassin and Marksman. Priests/ priestesses on the other hand were directly added into a party on request from the Church of Wonders.

We continue to sail across the wind and after several innumerable hours, we finally spotted our destination which was The blue Aqua City. Due to the incessant rise of immigrants into the city, The Blue Aqua City is currently the third largest city in the Empire.

The large city was protected by colossal walls against a vast array of thickets and woodlands which homed a rich panoply of huge dreaded beasts.
