Fateful Encounter

If it were to be a crab meat or a silky thread then they would have no choice but to keep looking for a beast likely to drop its core but if that were to be the case, there's a high chance they face against a group of three or four spider crabs next.

The chances of facing against a single Obsidian rank beast were pretty slim, so being able to face against one spider crab coupled with the chance of it dropping a beast core could only be described as absolute luck.

Since they had nothing else to do in the second floor, Dante and the rest all headed back to the inn.

"So how long do you think you can work your magic?"

Now back to the inn, Dante asked Landon on when he thinks he could finish brewing a potion with the purple colored monster core we obtained.

"I'd say about four hours,"

Hearing his reply, Dante laid helplessly on the bed.

*Sighs*

He was really exhausted. He tilted his head to his right to see that Axel was already asleep on his own bed.

'I guess it's totally worth it after spending hours staying awake slaying beasts and grabbing all the necessary supplies required by Landon from the forest just a few kilometers away from the outskirts of the city.' Dante thought.

With four hours needed for Landon to complete his brewing, Dante thought it wouldn't hurt for him to finally get some sleep right now.

*******

An hour later, while Dante was still asleep, Cecilia stepped into the guys room. Noticing Landon was pretty busy with his brewing, Cecilia decided to seat directly opposite him. Landon was currently dressed in a white long coat with a pair of goggles on his face as he tries to protect his eyes from any abrupt explosion of caustic fluids.

"Can you tell me what you know about Dante?" Seated on a stool, Cecilia crossed her legs which only aided in revealing her smooth snow white legs and thighs through the long waist slit of her white dress.

"Are you by any chance having a bit of fondness towards him?" Landon inquired without failing to conceal the jest hidden in his tone.

'Shit! I forgot I'm talking to a woman with no sense of humor, ' Landon cursed inwardly before taking a huge breath in and out. Then he began.

"Without D, I doubt I'll probably be alive by now. The truth is, I still have doubts if he remembers our first encounter . He saved me during the academy's survival entrance test. Back then I had enrolled purely with the aim of studying potions in the academy.

We were asked to kill a magical beast within a rank 8 to 10 power level. It was utter madness, never has such a test being conducted before. Even if it were to be conducted, the test would purely be aimed for students aspiring for a archery, marksmanship or even spell casting related courses. Every other job class was still acceptable but why including potion brewing?"

" Potioneers were nothing more than a support minded member of a party. So how would they expect someone like that to face a magical beast head on. It'd take a potion brewing aspirant with super fast reflexes to adeptly toss a poison potion into a beast mouth without having his hands chopped off. The test at the time was to choose those who were really capable of handling difficult situations on their own, no matter the course they hoped to study. The arduous test was done due to the rising number of adventurers that died by the hands of the demon army a year before."

Landon sauntered towards the side of his bed to grab a few materials needed for brewing from his bag.

"My point is D had every chance to abandon my cry for help but he chose not to. The Rank 10 beast was slaughtered and D told me to keep it based on the fact that I wasn't an attack minded spell caster or Archer. Though he had not defeated a beast for himself yet but still he offered me one with five minutes left for the test to be concluded. I asked why he didn't claim it as his but he simply replied to me with a smile that he aimed to kill a rank 8 beast,"

"At first I thought he was crazy. Everyone present that day had their power levels within the range of a Magenta rank but D wanted to defeat a Rank 8 magical beast all on his own. The next thing I knew, he had dashed away into the woods with less than four minutes remaining. Surprisingly, D was able to meet up with the limited time he had with a Rank 9 magical beast in his space cube. And the funny thing was, he had the look of disappointment on his face, "

"For twenty years in the academy as we aimed to study courses suitable for joining the adventurer guilds and potion guilds, we were unable to have the chance of getting to know each other due to the difference in time we had classes and training. On the year of our graduation, Dante was unable to rank among the top 10 best students studying adventurer's related courses."

Now Landon had completed the first part of his potion but with twenty minutes needed for cooling a part of his ingredients, he decided to take a seat before he continued.

"As for me, I graduated among the top three best students aiming to join the potion guilds. Among the top 10 that graduated in Dante's class, more than half of those students died in the war with the demon army. So he didn't really graduate with the pride of being among the top ten. He graduated without a top ten award and Immediately joined the guild." Landon relayed with a sense of respect felt in his words

"Was Dante among the Hero's party just like you were?"

With the fact that Landon once belonged to the hero's party, Cecilia decided to ask him based on things she noticed during the time Dante saved her and when they fought together to kill the spider crab.
