Guardian Angel

"Was Dante among the Hero's party just like you were?"

With the fact that Landon once belonged to the hero's party, Cecilia decided to ask him based on things she noticed during the time Dante saved her and when they fought together to kill the spider crab.

But hearing this, Landon's face became stern before he uttered.

"You are a member of his party that fought in the dungeon not too long ago. You can read his stats through your membership card. You don't need to confirm such things from me."

When Dante fought the spider crab together with both Cecilia and Axel, Cecilia had joined Dante's party enabling her to know the status of both Dante and Axel. Looking at it back then, she knew Dante was a silver rank adventurer but the strength he displayed certainly said otherwise moreover she was really concerned about something else.

" I know that. I'm just surprised by how proficient he was in using lightning magic," Cecilia replied solemnly.

"The results of what you saw in the dungeon was due to the huge amount of level up potions I gave him and his incessant will to make sure his body adapts to such changes in the short amount of time afforded to him,"

"Moreover, every single one of us from the Hero's party were Obsidian ranks except Count Dracula and the Sword Saint who were both Platinum ranks and with me being the only Gold rank among the party, there's no way Dante could have been one of us," .

Landon corroborated, enabling Cecilia to ponder if she had been over thinking about the possibility of Dante being Count Dracula, who was known to be the only one capable of using lightning magic proficiently.

"Thank you," With the conclusion that there wasn't any point in worrying over something she could just ask directly from Dante himself, she decided to head back to her room to rest.

Few hours later, right after Landon was done brewing the potion, I woke everyone else due to it being dark outside already.

With our arrival to the palace being paramount, we hurried back to the flying vessel parked right outside.

Landon on the other hand went straight to bed after being awake all day long brewing potions. The same could be said about Cecilia who did the same by heading straight to bed.

Only Axel and I remained on deck as we sailed across the wind.

I simply can't allow sleep to deprive me from returning back home as fast as possible. My first priority right now is to make sure the potions gets to the palace as soon as possible and then I'm heading straight to my dad's place.

I eventually switched places with Axel after several hours of steering the vessel. And not too long after, I saw Cecilia heading towards me.

"Good morning,"

She greeted me before sitting right beside me.

"Morning," I replied back before sniffing her floral perfume the air drifted towards me.

'Wow!! It's so nice to sit beside a beautiful lady early in the morning. With this, I've been reminded that I stink. I guess I will have to take a shower as well,'

"Um?..."

It seems she has something on her mind she wants to say, let's instigate the conversation a little bit.

"Um? Thanks for saving me yesterday. I know the fault was on me for not being patient enough to wait for you guys but I'm grateful for your help," Cecilia turned towards me as she states her mind.

Oops, I didn't expect her to summon the courage to speak up so fast. Nice! I like that.

"It's fine. We're here to achieve a similar goal so it was expected of me,"

After hearing what she had to say, I assured her there wasn't anything to worry about before inquiring from her.

"What kind of relationship do you have with the royal family?"

" Uh?" Stunned by my question, Cecilia exclaimed in shock.

"At first, I thought you were a palace maid but then again I doubt the Emperor would place an Angel in such a position." I explained my thoughts solemnly.

"I'll answer your question if you answer one of mine,"

Cecilia replied with her face still maintaining its expressionless demeanor.

" Fine," I replied back.

"I'm not really a maid. I'm the guardian of Princess Royal....."

It seems Cecilia was actually the guardian of Princess Royal. A guardian could only be summoned by a bronze rank priest/priestess and above. But not all summoning were successful. There are a lot of priests in the church of wonders currently without an Angel.

But there were a lot of people in the church who didn't approve of Cecilia being the princess guardian. Most times, human priests summoned Ascension Angels to be their guardians and not Fallen Angels.

Fallen Angels were usually summoned by demonic cultists and not priests, hence why the church harbored thoughts of princess Royal being a covert demonic cultists.

Many a priests opted to kill Cecilia thinking she could one day become a messenger for the demons.

But the princess refused, she knew the chance of summoning another angel wasn't as feasible as the church proposed so she wouldn't be tricked into doing what the church wanted.

Many rumors then circled around the palace of the princess rude behavior being the catalyst for her summoning a fallen Angel.

I seem to recall the priestess we had in the hero's party back then without a guardian. Hers was killed as it sacrificed itself to save the priestess of our party long before she joined us.

With this thought circling around my mind, I could finally understand why Cecilia wanted us to be in a hurry. She was desperately trying to help the princess who she swore allegiance to.

'So cute,' I thought inwardly as I stared at Cecilia while she explained her life story in details.

Several hours later, we finally arrived at the palace courtyard at night. With everyone already awoken, we headed straight to the Emperor's quarters.

Starting from here onwards, I'm most like going to use third person. The purpose of first person POV all this while was to limit the exposure of the information I was gonna leak out.

I didn't want to write it as an omniscient narrator instead I wanted you guys to read and feel the story through Dante's perspective hence why I never wrote multiple POVs.
