Chapter 17 Young Entrepreneur

The next 2 days were spent creating our new business and making prototypes for some products we planned to sell. Now you might be wondering, how did you make so many different products in 2 days?

We stole them.

We just used the same formulas and processing methods that Selena's own business uses after I got Luna to sneak around and find recipes for them. If it's not broken, don't fix it.

All we did was slap a new label on the product and got ready to hand them out. However, we did create one new product. Soap. We used a plant that Luna had found when she lived in the wilderness for one year to create a cheap and disposable soap. Which gave me the perfect way to try out a business strategy I'd always wanted to try.

Now all that's left is advertising and securing a deal with a certain marquis.

So I'm on my way to do one of the two now.

I walked through the castle and to my step mother's room.

As I entered my eyes were attacked by a blinding amount of sunlight. The Queen's room had three large windows which exposed every corner of her room to the sun's light.

This room perfectly mirrored her innocent and cheery personality. The same traits that seem to run within her family and have also been passed down to her son and daughter.

Queen Mia was from one of the three duke's households. The Veara dukedom. If I had to describe the three duke households I would describe it this way. They each aligned perfectly with evil, neutral, and good.

The Renforth's (Selena's house) were aligned with evil. They did not care for their people and only cared about themselves, they were arrogant and conceited.

The Lanchester's (Helen's house) were aligned with neutral. They cared for the people and did what they could for them, but not at great expense to themselves, they were calm and collected, the perfect people. You could find no faults with them and their actions, but you couldn't call them outstandingly good people.

The Veara household (Queen Mia's house) were aligned with good. They were rule followers who only cared for the welfare of the people, they would sacrifice themselves for the greater good and take a loss if it meant that it would help other people. You can see this by the fact that they are the only duke household who still supports me and even have talks of an engagement between me and their daughter. The only reason for this is because I was born the eldest and therefore 'should' become next king according to tradition.

That is actually the only reason I have any people who support me. The breakdown in power goes like this. The large household's who think they can use the king to their advantage and want to gain more power all support Julian. The only exception to this category is the Veara's who support me. Now then, why isn't Julian guaranteed the throne if all the powerful people support him?

Two reasons. One is that most of the noble households are of lower rank, and are not willing to risk switching sides to the second prince at the risk of their house being crushed should something go wrong. This means that most baron households and other lower rank nobles like viscounts are in support of me.

The second reason is the neutral faction. This is where most of the households in the middle of the noble ranking system reside, they don't reap major benefits if they come out and support Julian early, but they don't want to support me and risk being at a disadvantage if I lose the battle to the throne. They basically don't stand to gain a significant amount by predicting who will win, so they instead try to focus on minimizing losses and securing a good future.

There's only one exception to this. The leader of the neutral faction, the Sergio marquis family. They are one of the most powerful families in the empire as they are a noble house who have earned their way to this position through business ventures. They are pretty much the merchants of noble families.

Even though they could reap massive benefits if they joined Julian's side and he became king, they didn't. This is because they are currently in a position where that would make no sense. This is because Harper, my other step mother, is from a different marquis household. She comes from the Pute marquis household. The two households have a longstanding rivalry and are the two most powerful marquis houses, they have nearly as much power as the three duke households.

The Pute household is a household that focuses on military strength. They are always trying to increase military strength and build their own power. However, they have become a much bigger threat to the Sergio marquis house this generation. The two reasons for this are because Harper has become the Queen consort and Harper's father is a grandmaster swordsman who wields his own advanced aura of fire.

Although you would think that he is an old man who should retire already. After all he is already 73 years old and has multiple children and grandchildren who are ready to be married. He is still the head of the Pute house. This is because once you become a master swordsman, you're able to live for much longer than others. Unless you die in battle, you will certainly live to over 100 years old. And if you become a grandmaster swordsman like he did, you will be able to change that limit to 200-300 years depending on how good you are.

If you look at it like this, he is still young and fit to lead the household. This has created a lot of concern in the Sergio marquis household, as they now have to worry about the rapidly increasing power of the Pute house. This is why they have decided to stay neutral, they desperately wish for me to become the king in order to decrease the power of their rival house. But they also understand how stupid it would be to support me as if they do and I end up losing the throne to my brother, their house would be on the verge of collapse. They would completely lose to the Pute household with zero chance of recovery. But if they stay neutral, then pick the winning side at the very end, even if Julian wins they will still be able to stand back up again, and have a chance, however small it might be, to win the fight against the Pute house.

Well, that didn't matter to me today. Today I was going to be talking to my step mother who was from the Veara house. And just like the rest of her house she was kind to a fault, and I intend to make use of that fault today.
